The Kitten and the Panther
Once upon a time, on a day like any other
A Kitten and a Panther discovered one another
The Kitten was confused, but the Panther knew
He played this game before, and this love didn’t seem true
The Kitten was soft, tame and kind
Innocent to the naked eye
But behind her sweet, fluffy outside
Hid a broken feline, behind her white lie
The Panther, on the other hand, was strong, wild and cold
Typical bad boy, he never did as was told
He made his own rules and he played them well
But somehow that inner-wall fell
Females usually came and went like discarded prey
But about this the Kitten had nothing to say
The Panther had a lean body
He had a handsome face
But his eyes, oh, his eyes
They held so many lies
Sapphires in the night
Diamonds in the day
The Kitten found that she could never look away
She knew he was bad news
And his love touched only so few
Yet she went and lost her heart <3
And seeing him every day ripped it apart
Once upon a time the Kitten had a friend who glitters and shone
Secretly she was scared to be hurt and alone
Yet the panther went and stabbed her friend’s heart
That didn’t lead up so well to they’re first start
He hurt her long before the Kitten knew
Her affections would be so strong
Her tears would be so long
Because his words are smooth and never true
Scars are visible on the Kitten’s small body
A smooth sharp blade marked those terrible days
When words hurt her more that she could say
Those scars, of course, were hidden from the Panther
Because showing him would make her seem weak
Plus, he never came close enough, so to speak
The kitten chokes back the tears
‘Cause the Panther’s laughter is what she hears
And the Panther happily smiles
She hasn’t seen it on him for a while
It kills her inside what it wasn’t hers to claim
She meets his eyes, she blushes, she feels shame
But she can’t help smiling too
Even if it makes her seem the fool
Now the Kitten has a new friend
One’s that sweet and smart
It diminishes that small spark
When the Panther smiles for the girl
He smiles not for the Kitten, but for her friend
And no clearer message can he send
So the Kitten and the Panther stay apart
Because the kitten is too shy and the Panther too smart
It claws at her small, weakened heart
When nothing she says can make his love start
So she stays away
Because she thinks its hate in what he says
In reality though, he’s already fallen
Who could resist her, so sweet and small? And
He can’t risk falling for someone like her
So shy, so decent, so nice
Solution: he stares at her with eyes like ice
Hoping it would drive her away
So that it wouldn''t be him that has to say
He loves her
It’s frightening,
The need, the spark, tiny lightning
It scares him because true love to him is a mystery
And that is why the Kitten and the Panther stay enemies
