They say, in the beginning of time, there was a man, with skin dark as the night sky, and hair as light as ivory. He came down to a world full of war and destruction, where people were not equal, and changed their views. Then, one day, he disappeared, never to be seen again. They say, one day he will return, with eyes bright as diamonds, and change the world again.

“That will be the day” Ciara sighed, and put the book back on the shelf. Carefully. She wasn’t like others in school; she genuinely liked to read, to go to a new world. “I can hear you” she shouted, at the sniggering from the door. Stupid year 7s. Trying to fit in in a school so segregated and select, there is nowhere. (N.B. no offense to any 11/12 year old reading this, i don’t mean you as a group, just the ones in my school) I grabbed my bag, and strode out, followed by my best ever friend Megan, the most amazing, annoying person ever to walk this earth.

“You shouldn’t let them get to you”

“Ya I know, it’s just-“

“Yeah, I know, but your bro wouldn’t wont this Cia” (Key)

Oh yeah, my brother, Dorian, the most protective, loving, funniest big brother a girl could wish for. When I was younger, he used to chase me round the garden, and play games. He taught me all I know about cars and science. So full of life. All gone.  Some terrorist out in Afghan ended it for him with a single bullet. Thing is, I didn’t cry, sounds heartless, but i couldn’t, just one big hole.

“ya, I know, anyway, let’s go, bitches at 3 o’clock”

Zelda, McKenzie and Bliss, the 3 biggest bitches ever.  I turned away, and walked off, nice try. “Oy, Rosta, what ya walking away from us for?” Bliss shouted, smirk already in place. “ I thought you would have been best friends with us, after all, your brother was my boyfriend.”

Oh yeah, my brothers biggest mistake, getting with Bliss. She changed him, instead of games, and sweets, he ignored me. Not his fault, if Bliss wasn’t there.......

“ Yeah, he wasn’t much good as a boyfriend though was he” McKenzie squeaked up.

My fists curled at my side, Megan saw and just looked at me No.

“go run along girlies, playtimes nearly over” I replied, spitting the words out past gritted teeth.

They smirked a final time, and then flounced off, clearing the corridor as if a God was walking down the place.  “Evil, conniving, snide, cows” Megan muttered in my ear, hand on my shoulder.  I smiled, tears in my eyes. I don’t know what I would be without Megan. After Dorian was injured, she was the one t help me past it, helped me cope.

“Come on, Science,” Megan pulled a face, she hated science, just couldn’t get to grips with it. I, on the other hand, loved it, I loved the equations, the experiments, I could even find Physics interesting! Although the class was boring, Dorian taught me up to an a-level standard by the time I was 12. I loved just listening to him, drinking in this knowledge, loving it.

“cheer up meg, I’ll help you, we are dissecting a heart today” I grinned, knowing full well hoe much Meg loved all things gory, “you done the homework?”

“Yeah, thanks for the help, how do you get this stuff?!”

“ Dorian taught me, you know that, anyway, you can repay the favour-“

“No! I already help you enough with English!” Meg interrupted, “Its easy, just listen in class”. Another thing I wasn’t good at, well, I was okay, but the teacher hated me. I don’t mean like me imagining it, seriously hated. She hated Dorian because he knew it all already, and kept correcting her. I guess in her mind I’m a complete clone. Even so, i would have over looked even that, if she hadn’t insulted him at his funeral..........

*Flashback*

My mum and dad were huddled together in the corner, comforting each other when there was no comfort to be had. I just stood there, looking down into my dear brother’s face for the last time. He looked so peaceful, like he was sleeping. I was so deep in memories, I dint hear her until her bony hand grasped my shoulder. I jumped, then turned around to look into the eyes of his teacher, Miss Darvil. I didn’t really know her at this point, but she had taught Dorian for 6 years, and apparently that qualified her to come to his funeral. I turned away, wanting to be alone.

“Dont you walk away from me Miss Rosta, I see you have your brothers level of manners.”

I turned around, unable to believe what she had said. How dare she insult my brother, at his funeral! I started trembling, hands clenched, willing tears to come, so she would get the hint and leave me alone.

“yes, bright boy, shame about his rudeness and over-all unwillingness to learn. Still, I hold hopes for you Miss Rosta, I will have the...Honour of teaching you this year.” She smiled down at me, her thin lips all but disappearing into her lemon-like face. She strode away up to my parents. And uttered in tones of velvet honey.

“I’m so sorry for your loss”

Evil little hypocrite.

*end of flashback*

Ya, like I said, lost all my respect.

“Please meg, just the last few sentences,” I begged, hoping she would say yes. Although i didn’t like English, I needed it. I wasn’t stupid enough not to see that. I sighed, while she moaned and protested, as we walked into the science room. My world.

*heya guys, sorry, this bits a bit boring, I needed to set the scene. Please comment, ermm, I wont write again until I get 6 comments deal? :)*
