"Let's test that out."
He sounded amused. Impatient, even. His voice stirred the utmost attention of every servant roaming around once he stepped out with the boy trailing behind him. Everyone took a sharp inhale of air at the sight, curious to the brim but not foolish enough to question any of it. They casually moved out of the way, a swirl of nervousness nagging each soul present in the room as soon as their king passed by, a brief glance thrown their way and causing them to shrink.
"You." The deep voice broke the heavy silence. A long, bony finger was pointed at a nervous, young servant who instantly raised his head and maintained eye contact with Yoongi. "Bring Jeon to me." Was all he said before walking away, Taehyung hurrying to catch up with him.
He had no idea what was about to happen but he continued walking to what seemed like a battlefield marked by blood stains and dozens of weapons which were being held by members of the combat team, from what he could pick up. A wave of nervousness hit him, making his knees wobble but despite all of that, he could do nothing but follow the older man whose long coat fluttered in the crisp air with each step closer.
There was no way for him to escape. To back down from this kind of challenge. Especially not after he had openly admitted his burning desire to become a servant of Min Yoongi himself.
His steps had finally come to an abrupt halt, his feet touching the ground where countless souls had been sacrificed for the king's entertainment, for defying him and for displays of uselessness. Taehyung's hands started trembling against his own will and as much as he wanted to succeed in becoming a servant, he couldn't help but feel doubtful when a tall, lean warrior stepped forward as well with a threatening sword in his hands.
Yoongi watched from from the top, leaning against the wooden railing. He was more than impatient, barely containing his growing excitement at the unfolding scene. His dark eyes had gotten enveloped by a mischievous aura, thin lips curling upwards into a sickening grin that simply sent electrifying shivers down Taehyung's spine. His intentions were now as clear as daylight and Taehyung tried to keep his composure despite the rapid pounding of his heart against his ribcage.
"Defeat him and I'll consider making you my servant." His low, amused tone reverberated throughout the battlefield and managed to shatter every ounce of confidence Taehyung had left.
He was no warrior. Had absolutely no idea how to handle a blade as dangerous as a sword. Fear invaded his system the closer Jeon got. He looked stronger than anyone else he had set his eyes on, his expression void of apparent emotion as he gripped the sword even tighter, showcasing a few impressive tricks in the process.
Taehyung wasted no time and stumbled his way towards the weapon section, picking a random sword of his own that turned out to be heavier than he expected, and not as appropriate to defeat the best warrior Yoongi had under his sleeve. Jeon was one to be afraid of. No matter how confident or strong someone would claim to be, Jeon would maintain his composure and put all his skills to use, defeating each fool who dared to get close to the king.
Was Taehyung scared? Very much so. Facing such an individual increased his nervousness with each passing second spent in silence and unsettling atmosphere. Gripping the sword tighter and tighter, he fixed his golden brown eyes onto Jeon's dark ones, praying to succeed in defeating him and impressing the king who had his steel-like glance fixed on him.
A constant surge of adrenaline coursed through his veins, pushing him a few steps forward and closer to the intimidating warrior who stared him down with all his might.
"Fight." The short and powerful command echoed and sparked determination in Taehyung.
He had to try his best, even though his chances of winning were as slim as thread.
