Chapter 1, page 1: He likes me, he likes me not

     "Why would you ask me? why not just ask    someone else?" asks Lina.
"Because i know neither
of us would ever fall for each other."

"Good morning Lina!" said Issac enthusiastically.
      That's Issac, right now we're walking to school together like we've always done. I've known him since I was 8, he's basically my only friend. However one problem, I've had a crush on him for the last 2 years and i don't think he feels the same way. Scratch that i know he doesn't feel the same way. I've tried getting over him in countless ways but nothing ever works, he's just absolutely and utterly... perfect. Once when my cat, cici died, he stayed with me the whole entire day, we watched movies, and cried, and ate way too much chocolate. Not to mention he's also cute, funny, charming, and way out of my league.

"Good morning issac"
"you seem extra hyper this morning" I replied while yawning.
"Did something good happen?"
"Well... Lily asked me out yesterday night. i'm still unsure about her though." Stated Issac.
"oh..." I said with my voice trembling,
"you guys would be cute together..."
Why would i say that? I mean they would be an attractive couple but still, that's not what i want.
"haha really? i mean she's really nice, i still need to know her better though"
I was too deep in thought to respond to Issac, so the rest of our walk to school was silent. During our 8 years of friendship, Issac has only been in one relationship, but that was before i had feelings for him. If he were to date again... Suddenly Lily's bright face snapped me of my thoughts.
"speak of the devil!" said Issac,
"I didn't know you went to school so early" giggled Lily.
Issac and Lily begin chatting like they've known each other for ever. Meanwhile I just watched, I almost forgot how pretty Lily is, they really would be perfect together...
"hey Issac, i'm just gonna use the bathroom for a sec, i'll meet you in class." I couldn't take being the third wheel any longer. I practically sprinted to get out of there, I just kept running and running until i bumped into someone. It was Alex, we had classes together but we rarely spoke, we basically lived in different worlds, i'm a nobody while he's popular.
"sorry!" I said in a shattering tone.
"hey wait you seem upset, is everything alright?" replied Alex kindly.
"I'm fine, thanks for worrying though." I probably could've gotten away with that lie except as soon as i said that, a tear ran down my face.
"Seriously you're clearly not fine, you can talk to me" said Alex in a warm voice.
"It's just.. the person i love more than anything will never feel the same way for me."
"i'm so sorry Lina... wait, i've got an idea! what if we faked dated?" asked Alex persistently.
"sir what?!" I asked in a confused voice.
"If we faked dated, maybe it'll make your crush jealous." stated Alex confidently.
"He's not the jealous type, and what would you get out of this?"
"well... there's this girl, Emily, she's been trying to get me to date her for the last month and i've tried rejecting her in every way, but she never gives up so maybe if i'm in a relationship, she'll stop." said Alex.
"which Emily, there's like 70 in our school."
"Emily Harrison, y'know the one with the black hair and green eyes?"
"nope, doesn't ring a bell"
"ugh lucky" replied Alex in a almost jealous tone.
"One more question, why would you ask me? why not just ask someone else"
He took a moment to reply and then said " Because i know neither of us would ever fall for each other." He wasn't wrong, we're complete opposites, he's cheerful and optimistic while i'm gloomy and pessimistic.
I thought for a second but what did i have to lose? so I said "fine, but we'll continue this conversation later, class is about to start."
