I tiptoe around my apartment trying my best not to wake Lily, who fell asleep on the couch last night after another long night of partying. I swear I dont understand how that girl does it almost every night. She begs me to come to some club at least four times a week and every time I decline. I hate going out to places full of sweaty strangers who are all drunk and only talk to you so they can get in your pants. I mean dont get me wrong it can be fun, but not when you do it as often as Lily does.

As soon as I grab my keys and am about to open the door, Lily snores really loudly which scares me and leads me to drop my keys.

"Mad is that you?" she asks. She sounds hungover.

"Yeah sorry. I'm going to work. Ill see you later." I tell her. As I am waiting for a response I hear her soft snores return. I roll my eyes and head downstairs to my car. Once I make it to my car I look at the time. It is currently 6am and my shift starts at 6:30 so I was right on time. I pull out and head to the coffee shop I work at. It's a small place in Manhattan, but it is actually really good. I have been working here for about a year now. Once I finished high school I knew college wasn't for me so I decided to get a job and start saving up so I could travel. My parents were pretty supportive. I mean of course they were and still are concerned but its my life and I cant live my entire life doing what everyone expects me to do.

I pull up in front of the store and there are a few people in there eating and on line getting coffee. I make my way behind the counter and grab my apron. I pass my friend Avery who works there with me as she is ringing someone up.

"Good morning Avery." I say with a big smile. She looks over at me and smiles.

"Good morning Madelyn. How was your weekend?" she asks.

"It was pretty good. I just stayed at home really, nothing interesting. What about you?"

"Well Jacob was really pissing me off. He literally came home at like 10 one night and was complaining about all of his friends and I just had to sit there and be like 'oh sweetie I know your life is so hard' " I smiled and started to tune her out after a while. She has been dating her boyfriend Jacob since junior year of high school and they are so gonna get married but she always comes in with another story about him and what he did. It's pretty amusing at this point.

"Like what the fuck does he want from me?" she says quite loudly and I look over to the elderly woman who just ordered her coffee and looked scared of Avery.

"Sorry ma'am, thatll be $5.02." The woman gave Avery her money and scurried away to the counter where she would receive her coffee.

"Avery, you really gotta start watching what you say in front of the customers or else you're gonna scare them all away." I giggle. She sticks her tongue out at me and I head to the back counter to start making some of the orders. I have gotten really good at making the drinks pretty quick. It has kind of become a game to me to see how fast I can make something. Once I completed an order I walked over to the counter and read out the name on the cup.

"Harry." I said and was immediately met with two glowing green eyes. He was dressed to perfection in a very expensive looking navy suit. His hair was full of messy curls but it looked perfect and he gave me a stern look. I felt intimidated by him but part of me wanted to know more about this alluring man in front of me.

"Thanks." he said and a chill instantly went through me. Before I could say anything he walked out of the store and got into the jet black car sitting in front of the store and a tall man standing next to it closed the door for him. I stared out the window for a second and watched the car pull away.

"Madelyn. Hello?" I heard Avery yell at me.

"Yeah?" I respond a little dazed and confused. She gave me a concerned look.

"Are you ok? You look a little flushed."

"Yeah I am fine." I tell her but I can tell she doesnt believe me.

The rest of my shift I am a little distracted but I maintain my composure. It was 3 now so I headed out to my car. I made my way back to my apartment and not to my surprise, Lily was still asleep but she seemed to have fallen on the floor. I laugh a little and walk over to her and put a blanket over her.

"I love you Mads." She mumbles without opening her eyes. I giggle at her.

"Love you do Lil." I tell her and make my way to my room. I change into more comfortable clothes and call my mom.

"Hi sweetie how are you doing today?" My mom asks in a caring tone.

"I'm fine mom, how are you, dad and Christian." I ask her as I collapse on my bed.

"We are pretty good. Dad is still at work and your little brother has been playing hockey all the time. He has a game after school today that we are all gonna go to. You should come to one, one of these days." She tells me. My family lives on Long Island so I am able to visit them pretty often.

"I will. Send me his schedule and I will definitely come to one." I reassure her. After a bit of small talk we hang up and I look to see its 4pm. I walk out of my room to see Lily finally awake, sitting in the kitchen drinking some water.

"You have to stop letting me drink." She moans.

"We both know that will never happen so there is no sense in me telling you that." I chuckle. I look out the window and it is beautiful out.

"Hey I think Im gonna go for a walk. You want to come?" I ask her. She looks at me like I just asked her to run a marathon.

"That's funny. Have fun." she says and walks into her room. I playfully roll my eyes at her and go into my room to put on some leggings and a crewneck. I grab my keys and my phone and head downstairs. I love walking in the city. There are so many different people and cultures all around me. I made my way through the busy streets and found myself on 5th avenue. I look into the window of a Gucci and I immediately lock eyes with the green ones I found myself mesmerized by this morning. He stares at me for a moment before making his way to the door. He walked out to me and stood surprisingly close.

"Are you following me?" He asks with a bit of a smirk. I am at a loss for words.

"Ummm..No sir I-I was just passing." I say feeling very shy all of a sudden. He chuckles.

"Sir?" he repeats. I now feel really stupid, why would I say sir.

"Uh, dude?" oh my god that was worse. He looks at me very confused.

"Interesting choice." He says and turns back to go into the store and leaves me there on the street absolutely stunned by the whole encounter that just occurred. I look back into the store and as he is being measured for a suit, he looks at me briefly and smirks before returning his focus on the man measuring him.
