Sakura petals fell from above, the gentle breeze assisting them on their flight to freedom, away from the Mother tree. The pink petals were swept away from the each other, parting ways for a chance to find a piece of land to call home.

Some were taken to the East side, bathing under the glorious sun's warmth as the strength of the wind grew stronger, making the petals go haywire in the bright blue sky.

They flew past a certain teenage girl, the gust of wind blowing against her hair, which was partially covered up with a straw hat.

She closed her eyes for a moment, then opened her eyes once more when she felt the weight on her head getting lighter.

She blinked as her hand went to touch her head. It was then, the girl noticed, her straw hat was no longer perched on her head.

The very first thing that she did, was to look up, to end up finding a familiar hat up in the air, drifting away from sight. Without haste, the girl sped off, chasing the airborne object in an attempt to retrieve it.

She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, her long brown hair blowing up behind her, despite being held together by a hair tie.

Unfortunately, the straw hat never got retrieved from the air. The girl was not able to get her hands on it.

Fortunately, the straw hat was no longer airborne. Someone close by got their hands -- or head -- on it.

As soon as the hat landed directly on his head, the person halted his footwork, seemingly surprised by the sudden brush of contact on his head.

The boy was practically motionless, seeing as the handheld game console that he was holding on had fallen out of his hands, landing on the ground.

The brown-haired girl couldn't help but to let out a giggle, one that was loud enough to make its way to the boy's ears.

When he turned around, he was surprised by the sight seen right in front of him. It wasn't shown, but he was caught off-guard by the owner of the giggle, whom was slowly stepping towards him.

Soon, she stopped, keeping a short distance between him and her.

They stared at each other for a while, both inspecting the other's appearances.

She realized. His hair color looked like that of pudding. His eyes were too like that of a cat's.

He realized. Her hair was tied up a pink ribbon, styling it into a ponytail. Her looks too made it look as if she resembled a beagle.

As that moment of inspection passed, the girl made her first move. He watched as her hand was raised up, the hand moving from left to right in a friendly wave. Soon, he found himself returning the gesture, waving back at the girl politely.

The movement that she made was for her finger to point to his head. It didn't take long for him to realize that she was pointing to the unfamiliar object on his head.

Gently, the boy took the item off his head, only to find out that it was a straw hat. He looked back at the girl as he spoke,"Oh, this is yours?"

She nodded, smiling as she placed her hands in front of him, like she's telling him to return the hat back to her.

Slowly, the boy came closer to her, up to the point where they were just centimetres apart. The girl lowered down her hands, leaving a small gap to separate the two.

She closed her eyes shut, awaiting the boy's next move.

..

She felt a little weight being placed back on her head. Opening her eyes, she found a pair of hands hovering above her, dangling in the air from the aftermath of letting go of the straw hat.

The girl felt more at ease, a calm aura appearing around her as she plucked the boy's hand off the air, and holding them tightly in her hands.

"Thank you! The hat is special to me, I can't lose it," the gil thanked him, squeezing his big-boy hands tightly, as a gesture of gratitude.

All he did was nod, not wanting to give himself more attention. He was thankful that the girl pulled away from him soon afterwards, leaving his face red and his hands empty.

One would think that their interactions would have ended right after she retrieved the hat back.

One should think otherwise, the brown-haired girl had other plans.

Before he could leave the awkward situation, the girl spoke up, "I never caught your name, may you tell me it now?" (so cliche, i know :/ )

To him, the question was rather out of the blue, but he answered it anyway.

"K-kenma. Kenma K-kozume," he didn't know exactly why he had stuttered. He knew that he didn't have many friends, meaning that he didn't have to talk to many people, but that didn't explain why he was a stuttering mess when with her.

The latter smiled sweetly, completely oblivious to Kenma's stuttering. "Well, my name is--"

"KENMA! WE'RE GONNA MISS THE TRAIN IF YOU DON'T HURRY UP!"

The said boy flinched, looking towards the direction where the voice came from, only to see a tall figure in red waving at him.

He hesitated a little, his eyes darting back to meet hers.

She quickly understood the situation. Flashing another smile, she gently pushed the boy, ushering him to rejoin his friend. "Go and catch your train, Kozume-kun."

Slowly, he nodded, before jogging back to his friend, and leaving the girl's side.

Not only that, but he left something else as well.

Right in front of her feet, laid Kenma's game console, seemingly forgotten by its owner. If the handheld object had feelings, it would have shed a tear.

The girl noticed the abandoned console immediately after her friend had left, and picked the item up.

Surprisingly, the game program was still running, with the words 'YOU LOST' plastered across the screen. She had expected the device to power off after its impact with the ground.

She fumbled around with the console for a while longer, before someone called her out from afar.

"Young mistress, we've got to get going! Remember that your parents are expecting you to be back early today!"

"Alright, I'm coming! I'm coming!" she responded quickly, not wanting to have her butler to wait for her any longer, Not wasting any time, she powered off the little game console, and stuffed it into her bag, before running back to her butler.

Her butler huffed impatiently as she slowly came over. "That took you longer than a minute, young mistress. Had you been quicker, we could have left earlier for home."

She laughed amusingly. "Alright, I apologize for the inconvenience, but we can leave now that I'm back, so let's get moving!"

"Exactly what I had in mind, young mistress."

Smiling, she stepped into the car. As she buckled up her seat belt, her mind wandered off to the boy she had met today, and her thoughts were still on him as the car drove off to its next destination.

'Welcome back to Japan, young mistress.'
