"Mom!" I yowled. "I want food!"
"Hold your horses!" She shouted back.
"Can I eat one?" I asked.
"No!" She growled. I crawled over and licked under her chin. I could tell she was mad.
"I am sorry," I whimpered. Mom looked down at me and licked the top of my head.
"It's ok," she said. I perked my ears. Something is outside our den.
"What is it?" I asked, fear filling my voice. She shook her head crouched down and slunk out of the den. She came back with a bundle.
"What is it?" I asked again, curious instead of fearful. Mother shifted and I followed suit. I then crept forward and peered down at the bundle.
"It's a baby!" I cried. I picked the baby up in my arms and cradled it against my chest.
"Is it like us?" I asked. "Is it a shifter?"
"We will be unable to tell at this point in its life," she replied. I nodded solemnly.
"Can we keep it?" I asked. Mother nodded.
"Yay!" I shouted. "Is out a boy?" Mother shook her head. I jumped up. "Lets name her Cia."
"Cia," mother repeated. "Little Cia and big Elise." I smiled as she said my name.
