"No it's quite alright. I'm the one who wrote it. I've read it enough." His voice was back to normal. You look down at the book opening it slowly. "It's not dangerous. Only video games and movies have poisonous books." his voice caught your attention but made your stomach sink..
He thinks I'm an idiot.
You feel the page's texture and read the first line, "In loving memory; my past self" well that's one hell of an attention grabber but it doesn't seem much like a romance novel. You look up at the man that had moved down a ways browsing the book collection.
"What's your name?" you asked. He glances at you for a moment before looking at the book in your hands.
"My name's Namjoon but my friends call me Joon." his smile seems to be asking for something. The book.
"Nice to meet you Joo-" he cuts you off.
"Are we friends now?" You step back at his abrupt response.
"I suppose we aren't, I'm sorry." you start towards the table before being tugged at by your shirt.
"No, No. You're supposed to say yes silly." He reaches his hand out and you take it shaking his hand.
"Then. Yes, my name is Y/N. Do you normally make friends this easy?" your words seem to amuse him as he lets out a small laugh showing his dimples. Well, I don't mind the sight. You feel your face get red as he lets go of your hand.
"Not particularly, no. Not any as interesting as you at least." he points towards the book again. "You should take it home and read it. Sometimes it's hard to focus here or so I've been told." ... no kidding with someone as gorgeous as him walking around I doubt anyone could focus. You nod your head and walk to your table laying the book down and looking at the menu.
You call for Yunki deciding on a caramel macchiato and a sandwich. You flip the book to the front page and begin reading the story. From what you could tell he was a gifted writer, actually much better than yourself in many ways. He had a way at saying things just right but also not muddying the story line with too many details, he truly was amazing. You engulf yourself into his words that elegantly told the story of how he came to love a girl's flaws without saying the girl's name at all... I have such fierce competitors in my field, I don't stand a chance. Just as you go to turn the next page you look up to see Namjoon across from you reading a book as well. How long had he been next to me? He seems to notice your gaze as his eyes left his own book to question yours.
"Do you make it a habit to stare at people?" his words were a bit harsh and had a slight sigh mixed in with the syllables.
You blink a few times reaching for your coffee and hiding your face behind the cup taking a giant sip of lava with sugar. "Ouch, ow, ahh." and whatever other noises you manage to leak out make Namjoon chuckle a bit putting his book down.
"Normally when I talk to people they respond back with human language but I suppose I can learn whatever that was too." you laugh a bit still recuperating from your vital organs dying a little before smiling at him.
"I am still in awe, how did you come up with such an amazing story? You must have really loved her." you look up to see a slight smirk form across his face.
"Who said it was a she?" His words surprisingly make your face blister with embarrassment.
"Oh, uh. I didn't even consider that.. But that would make a lot more since with some of the adjectives used." his eyebrows lift a little at your response.
"Which adjectives?" he eyes you a little before glancing over at his book.
"For starters, you said they were handsome and strong." he shakes his head disappointed.
"You're handsome, girls can be called handsome too." you glance up at him but he remains looking at his book.
"Truthfully, I'm not sure whether you love or hate them. You ramble about everything you consider a flaw then use such simple words as rebuttals to the once harsh opinions." Now this response catches his attention.
"So you noticed? In actuality, I hate him the most. I am still learning to love him but he makes a lot of mistakes and makes things hard for me..." he lets out a sigh and continues, "look, I really want to love him but sometimes saying i hate him only makes things worse. Maybe hate isn't the word..." you raise your hand abruptly startling him and making a fool out of yourself. Stupid.
"You know. I don't think it has to do with affection at all. You just don't understand them well enough to form solid opinions yet. I don't think trying to evaluate them with words will really solve that lack of knowledge either." You look up to see him wide eyed. Fuck, I said something weird. "Or that's just how I feel, haha silly me. I really should get going now!" You giggle out a bit before paying for your coffee and sandwich.
"Maybe understanding them isn't easy but you shouldn't give up because they're difficult at times but also don't force yourself to love someone just because you don't want to hate them" you slide the book to him and he reaches out grabbing your hand causing you to flinch a bit.
"What's your number?" his eyes never look up from the table which you are thankful for at this very moment. I can only imagine how stupid of a face I just made. He wants my number? Mine? Me, the one who just burnt herself and spoke alien for a few minutes? You pat down your pockets sighing out.
"Do you happen to have your phone by chance? I left mine at my house." he looks up handing you his phone before snatching it right back.
"Wait, a 'handsome' girl like you walking around this late without a cellphone?! Unheard of, I'll walk you to the station." he grins making his dimples stand out on his porcelain like skin.
It's only 2 o'clock in the afternoon and it's sunny outside...
"Actually It's only a few blocks away, I'll be okay!" you try and shake your head no but he had already gotten up and put his jacket on looking over at you.
"I'll walk you there."
