"Make yourself comfortable, it's going to be a long ride." Is the last I remember coming from Evelyn that night. I can't recall what happened, I got carried away by staring at the liquor for a while until I ended up falling asleep. Yes, the ride was that long. I remember Evelyn nudging my shoulder to wake up and Aiden though it was a good idea to honk the fucking horn. Like that was necessary, I swear, that 24 year old man acts like a fucking child. I looked around my surroundings and see that we were at some sketchy motel. I was extremely tired, I barely couldn't get out the car. It took me a while to officially wake up, and be cautious because if I learned something from my experience it is—don't trust people. I happen to catch a glimpse of a person leaning against the wall close to the door of the main entrance of the hotel. My brain was foggy and I couldn't determine who it was. It took a second to find out that person was simply Luke looking like he needs sleep.
Evelyn pats me on the shoulder and guides me to the enterance. I look around to find Makenzie, Evelyn's daughter sitting at the front desk with her feet up on the table. "Isn't she supposed to be sleeping?" I point out to Evelyn. "Darling, she doesn't really sleep, her brother on the other hand, snores like a pig... Moving on," she grabs a set of keys and leads to the basement, Aiden follows behind and Luke checks to see if the cost was clear. Evelyn opens the door, "Well now that you found our little secret, we invite you to tune into the fun." The room was pitch black, until Evelyn turned on the light. It was a bar, along with a pool table, Aiden coughed, "Well, make yourself comfortable I guess, you might want a drink to process what we're going to explain."
"Nah.. Skip the drinks, girlie's gonna need to be sober to not forget anything." Someone said as they entered the room. Their voice was deep, almost like it was being filtered, their messy hair covering their face as the person took his hood off to reveal his face, which was only to be covered by a mask. The mask was seen everywhere, on television, on daily headlines on the news, in books, and on posters. What I was facing was probably one of the most powerful, and political person out there. A member of the royal court. Kristen Amari. And wherever Kristen was, his husband, Chris was with him. However this time he seemed alone. Fucking shit, fucking shit, who I'm facing as of right now, is one of the most dangerous people out there. Tension built up in the room, Evelyn and Aiden seemed highly okay with Kristen being in the room.
"Well then, I'm gonna loose the mask since we're going to be talking for rather a while." His deep voice echoed the room, he began to life up the mask. He looks younger than he claims to be, as if he were in his early 20s, even though he was thirty six. His freckles and pale lavender eyes where what made him unique, as if he were a model. His hazelnut hair, along with the faded blue at the end, not to mention the fact of his skin appeared to slowly turn pitch black. "Right then!" He smiled, his voice was higher pitched then the way he talked through the mask, he reached for his glasses.
"Huh..? But your voice?" I asked him.
"It's a part of the mask feature, pretty cool right?" Aiden smiled.
"How the hell are you so calm about this?"
"Oh Ellie, darling, you're being a tad bit overdramatic." Evelyn sat down at a bar stool.
"Right... Tam wants you for something." Kristen said.
"Tam as in, the Queen?" I swore, my face was as pale as a piece of paper when he nodded yes as he cleaned the lens of his
glasses, "Now where is my two students who happen to be your children, Eveyln?" He asked as he put his glasses on.
"Makenzie's at the front desk and Mayden is sleeping." She replied.
"Right then, I guess I'll say it," Kristen sighed, "Tamara was looking through some files, sorting them out, doing her little scientist thing and checking up on her people like she normally does after we just finished recording the toxic realm's population. She caught an eye on your file, and your file happens to be something straight out of a lab, now I was sent here to find out if you were typically bred for war."
Eveyln spat out her drink, "Bred for war? Ellie doesn't possess any powers for god's sake, how is she possibly bred for war?!"
"Yea I mean, Ellie's a schizophrenic, but I don't think that she possesses something abnormal." Aiden pointed out.
"Tam thinks it's medication that's stopping the abilities of her powers passing through, after all, he schizophrenia could be an alter trying to talk her through making decisions to save her life and other people's." Kristen sat down.
"So wait let me guess this straight, my schizophrenia, is stopping me from using a supernatural ability I could possibly possess?" Processing this through was the hard part.
"But I don't understand, normally people bred for war, whereas example my brother and I, along with my two children, normally possess their abilities at birth, or at a young age, how could it be that Ellie, a 24-year old, possess her powers now?!" Evelyn was probably just as confused as I was. "Evelyn, don't stump yourself out on such a silly thought, I mean, Tamara could be wrong?" Aiden looked at Kristen, "Barely, after all, she does know about genes and all medical stuff like that." Kristen thought, "Hey, you could just come by the castle for some tests and well be fine, but if they come back positive, we're taking the meds away from you."
You've got to be kidding, right, you'd suspect someone in their right mind wouldn't come to the conclusion about me off my meds, "I need them, with out them, I can't focus, I hallucinate all the time and I'm not in the right state of mind, and the voices in my head get louder by the second."
"Fine then... keep the meds, I'll try to convince Tam on letting you keep them." He said.
"Thanks..."
I don't think anything has got me this overwhelmed other than my own mind. At this point, I might just loose my sanity.
"I'm sure it's all a misunderstanding, we can't just drag her into something she has no clue about." Evelyn said.
"Evelyn, that's the reason the tests exist." Aiden tapped his fingers on the table.
"Fine then, whatever, tomorrow I go, that's it, end of discussion." I really wanted everyone to shut up about this, it was highly overwhelming.
"Yea sure, just ask Makenzie, if she's up, to use a room, she'll let you use one for the rest of the night, there's no point to drive back home when it is two hours away." Aiden reached out for a glass.
"As I said, whatever."
