Fated Encounter

I sighed as I grew bored of gaming for nearly five hours straight. I told my friends that I'd be getting offline and that I'd see them later before closing out of everything. I put my laptop to sleep and shut off my TV afterward.

Lying in bed, I start to wonder how things are back home and if anything has changed with the pack lately. I hadn't exactly left home on good terms, but it was my decision and I was already over eighteen years of age. They tried what they could, but they couldn't change my mind. I was the black cat of the family and the entire pack. Well, technically, not a cat at all. I was born completely human; the werecat genes were recessive in me and I showed absolutely no potential of ever tapping into the werecat side of me. The only manifestations I had was being able to partially shift to manifest cat ears and a tail. At least they were a beautiful black color and they were sleek. My mother was full werecat and she refused to talk to me about my birth father. Because of what I was, I can only assume that he was either partially or fully human.

I was around eight years old when my mother found her mate, my step-father, Maurice. He turned out to be the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack, which made my mother the new Luna of the strongest pack in the USA. A Luna is always the mate of an Alpha, she helps in any and every way she can to care for everyone in the pack while the Alpha does the same. The only difference is, the Alpha is always the one true leader of a pack. It is either birthright or the title is passed on through the winner of a challenge with an Alpha through either death or submission of the previous Alpha. Yes, there are so many different things to do with weres, also known as therians. We preferred being called therians instead of our subcategories. There was a subcategory for therians of nearly every animal on the planet.

My step-father had a daughter of his own, Carson. She was two years younger than me, a little paler and she had a rounded and cherubic like face. What made me feel worse was that she was full therian werecat. Out of everyone in my birth pack and now, my new pack, I was the only human, well...nearly full human. I was frustrated, things just weren't fair. Being a therian was only passed down through birth, there was no way to "infect" or "change" others into a therian. Not like some stories and media in the human world portrayed. It was both hilarious and sickening because I had always longed to fit in, but I was never able to.

Anyway, I had moved because there were some serious things that happened to me back home that I couldn't talk to my family about, no matter how much I wanted to. When I had left home to move in with my boyfriend, Asher. Asher is a human, plain old human. No supernatural family members, nothing. Hence why my family and the entire pack weren't happy about my leaving to live in the mortal world. Well, tough, at least I would be normal here.

Asher and I had only been dating for a little over six months as a long-distance relationship through gaming and video calls. We used technology all the time for communication with one another. I met him for the first time in person when he arrived at the airport to pick me up. That day, we shared his very first time of physical intimacy with one another on the drive to his home.

At first, things seemed okay, no one really bothered me, I was kept and taken care of by Asher. After two years of dating, he had asked me to marry him and I gladly said yes. We moved around three different times before finally settling where we were now with two roommates named Jameson and Kenny. Two older gentlemen that didn't mind us keeping to ourselves and the rent was very cheap.

Things were okay, other than the fact that after three years of being together, neither Asher nor I were happy in our relationship with one another. He firmly believes in polyamory while I prefer monogamy. I had only agreed to it because I thought it would make him happy. I also spoke to other guys in hopes of something more, but it never happened. I had given up entirely and I just felt stuck where I was, living with my choices. I had taken on the role of a housewife, taking care of the majority of the housework while Asher worked. It wasn't so bad staying home and having nothing but time to do what I wanted to.
