Chapter 1- Different Outcome?

“Give it to me now!” Dawn hissed the words with narrowed eyes. She was losing her patience with her best friend, who right at this moment, was grinning like a fool and holding Dawn’s red lace panties high in the air.

Jane merely giggled. “I won’t. Why do you even need to wear this when he won’t even look at you.”

Ouch. Dawn grimace at Jane’s brutal honesty. She does have a point though. Night, Jane’s cousin had been ignoring her since forever. But it didn’t stop her from trying again.

“He would! I have a very good plan this year and it would work! Now give it to me. I don’t want to be late!” Dawn screeched and tried to snatch the undergarment away, but Jane merely dodge her move and laugh gaily.

“You’ve been saying that for fourteen years now and every time you end up crying over him! Honestly Dawn just give up!” Jane muttered.

Dawn shook her head, her unruly red hair flying everywhere. “I’m not giving up on him! For God’s sake I’ve been in love with him since we were three!”

“It’s not love Dawn! It’s obsession. O-B-S-E-S-S-I-O-N. “ Jane enunciated each word with wide eyes.

Dawn gritted her teeth. “For the nth time! I’m not obsessed with him, okay!”  She stomped back to the bed and glared at Jane. Night was everything for her. He was the epitome of her very own prince charming.

Jane’s shoulder slumped in defeat but she still held the undergarment out of Dawn’s reach.

“When will you wake up Dawn? You’re crazy you know that?”

Dawn expelled a weary sigh. “I’m awake and I’m not crazy.”

Jane rolled her eyes exasperatedly. “Come on, you’re crazy. I’ve been watching you hurt yourself for the last fourteen years. You cried a hundred of times over him and you still won’t give up. I honestly think he’s not even worth any of this.”

“He is worth it! He’s a freaking future Alpha and he’s hot!” Dawn joked to lighten the mood.

Jane finally walked towards her and handed her the undergarment. “Trust me Dawn. You won’t want to go there.” Her eyes hold on a pleading look and most of all worry.

Dawn just smiled. “This year it’s going to be different. I can feel it.”

Jane groaned. “Every year it’s the same thing Dawn, you’ll go to the party uninvited then go home crying and we’ll spend the night watching movies and eating chocolates.”

“Well that’s what’s different, Night invited me.” Dawn said smugly. Jane looked at her incredulously.

She couldn’t believe it herself but at lunch yesterday, the great Night Van der Veen approached her and handed her an invitation. She almost melted at the sight of him walking towards her. She could still remember how the deafening silence settled on the crowded cafeteria as he took quick long strides to her direction. Her heart beat accelerated and she held her breath as his steel grey eyes found hers and held her captive. He handed her the invitation card and she was stupefied for a minute just staring at it.

“Dawn.” Her name rolled off in his tongue like an aphrodisiac and a shiver run down her spine. She took the card and raise her eyes to meet his. She opened her mouth to say thank you but he was already walking to his table and the murmurs and whispers had already started.
