It was raining and cold on that evening in New York. The streets were empty and the few people to be seen kept their heads down, wanting to get to their flats and apartments as fast as possible.
At the normally crowded airport full of cabs, business people and travelers, nothing could be seen except for a lonely cab driver leaning on his yellow car, waiting for someone to show up, hair and clothes soaked from the streaming rain that fell continuously from the heavy grey clouds covering the sky. It was getting dark and his shift was nearing his end. The next passenger would be his last for today, if there was going to be a next passenger.
He was already thinking of dinner, which he would eat at his sister's who he hadn't seen in a while. The street lamps were beginning to flicker on, a sign for his shift ending very soon. He considered just driving to his sister, ending his shift early. It wasn't like he had much hope to catch a last passenger anyway.
He slowly began rounding his yellow cab that was now seemingly glowing slightly in the light of the street lamps. But just as he opened the door, he heard footsteps coming closer very quickly and a high voice calling out. As he looked over to the airport, he could make out a short man, wearing a black adidas hoodie and black skinny jeans, carrying a shuffle bag, running towards him and waving frantically.
As he was only a few feet away, the driver suddenly shouted towards the still running figure: "STOP! Slow down! It's slippery!" But it was too late, for the man had already stepped on a leaf and slipped. Due to his reaction skills, the driver managed to catch the surprisingly light figure. "Oops" was all the short one could say, grinning apologetically at the taller man whose face seemed slightly familiar. "Hi" the taller one replied, smiling back at the figure he suddenly realised he was still holding.
Helping him up, he asked sarcastically:
"You don't need a drive somewhere, do you?"
Laughing, the smaller one replied:"Don't know how you figured that one out. So, you going to drive me or should I drive?"
"I think I'm quite fine with driving. Thanks though for your offer" chuckled the adressed man whilst putting the shuffle bag into the back of the cab and holding the door open for his passenger to hop in.
Once both were seated and had put their safety belts on, he asked:"Where do you want to go?"
Replying whilst pulling his hoodie off, the smaller one said:" To Cheshire Street no. 28 please. And by the way, I'm Louis"
The driver had turned to the back the man he knew now whose name was Louis when he started talking. But upon seeing Louis pulling his hoodie off, he turned back to the front as fast as he could, but that was still too slow for he had already caught a glimpse of Louis's toned abs showing through his wet t-shirt.
He felt his cheeks grow hot as he listened to Louis answering his question. Once he heard the destination, he started driving without really registering the very familiar address, thinking only of what he had seen. Meanwhile Louis, sitting in the backseat, was oblivious to all of this.
He was only pondering about what the driver's near shoulder-length curls would look and feel like when they were dry, already being quite curly and soft looking when damp from the rain. Oh, how much he wanted to bury his hands in those beautiful curls and breathe in the addicting scent he could already smell from the backseat. Breaking the lingering silence, he asked the driver:"What's your name?"
