Leaving California was the hardest thing you had ever had to do, but knew it would be worth it. Since you were young you knew you had wanted to live in New York, yes, it sucked your friends weren't around, but you would make new ones, right? At least, you hoped you would. Art had always been your favorite hobby, as long as you could remember you were always doodling something and daydreaming about the next piece of art you could make. But you didn't move to New York for art, you moved to write, and be successful at it.

You loved writing, your favorite thing to do was to sit and people watch and write down stories about what you think the people around you are like, what they do in life, etc. It allowed you to escape the harsh realities of life, to transport yourself into another place that wasn't always so lonely, surrounded by real people with made up stories that enveloped you in comfort and hope.

You had been saving up for years, putting away every cent in the hopes you were one step closer to moving to New York, and now, after years of saving, you were finally doing it. You had just enough to get by for a few months, giving you some time to find a job. Ideally, you didn't want to move without having a job first because that's very risky, but you knew it was time for you to go and start your life. Besides your two best friends Anastasia and James, who you'd miss dearly, there was nothing California had left to offer you. It didn't provide you parents, your real ones at least, it had thrown you from foster home to foster home your entire life. It had left you feeling alone, in a world full of 7 billion people, you felt alone. But New York would be different, you would make a new life for yourself, and your best friends promised they would come visit you.

You hoisted your bags up to your 2nd floor apartment in Queens, it was the nicest apartment you could find in your budget, so it would have to do. You unpacked your clothes into the dressers and closets and plopped down on the bed. Between the flight and unpacking you were exhausted, it had been a physically and emotionally draining night. You closed your eyes and drifted into a deep sleep, dreaming of all the wonderful things you knew were in store for your new life.
