Lanie's POV

Hi! I'm Lanie Smith, and I go to New York Prep. I am not super popular, but I do have a good group of friends. We all met in our Spanish class when we were forced to start a Study group together.

The group is me (a huge nerd but super shy), Jackie (a rebel, stick-it-to-the-man type of girl), George (a total class clown who has no interest in studying), and Will (super nice guy and very handsome). We grew super close over the last year, and I even started developing a crush on Will. It was impossible not to! He was so nice to everyone and very nice to look at. He was also mysterious and disappears from time to time. This made every girl (and some guys) drool over him. Will never accepted any of the requests to go on dates, but he also never said he has a girlfriend, so I was very hopeful he was just waiting to ask me out. 

Today was the last day of Sophomore year, and for some reason Will was absolutely glowing. I hoped it was because he finally decided to ask me out. It would be a great start to my summer if he asked me out. 

"Hey, Will!" George called out, "Why are you looking so happy today?"

"It's the last day of the school year! Why would I not be excited? Also I have a surprise for you guys. Meet me at the front entrance at the end of the day," Will grinned.

"A surprise? What surprise?" I asked eagerly. Was he finally going to ask me out?

"If I told you it wouldn't be much of a surprise now would it?" Will said with a wink, "You'll just have to wait for the end of the day to find out." With that, we all left to go our separate ways, all pondering what the surprise could be.

The school day went by so slowly because I was preoccupied with Will's surprise. Luckily, it was the last day of school so we weren't learning anything. I thought about how he would ask me. Maybe he had flowers. Maybe he had a sign! I started daydreaming on how he could ask me out when the final bell rang.  

I took my time getting to the front entrance because I did not want to get there too early and catch Will off guard. After about five minutes I made my way towards the entrance. When I got there, all my friends, including Will were there, but what surprised me was the new guy.

He has dark hair and eyes, and was wearing a black band shirt with black jeans and an aviator jacket. He wore a beaded necklace, very similar to the one that Will always wore.

"Hi! I'm Lanie! Who are you?" I walked up to them.

"Lanie! This is Nico!" Will grinned, "Nico, this is Lanie."

"Nice to meet you." Nico had a thick accent that I couldn't quite place.

"Same to you!" I grinned, maybe Will brought his friend as a wingman for when he asked me out. "So how did you and Will meet?"

"Oh! Nico and I go to the same summer camp," Will explained, throwing his arm around Nico's shoulders. I noticed a faint blush creep up Nico's neck as he ducked out from under the arm. 

"The secret camp none of us are allowed to go too?" Jackie crossed her arms over her chest. "I still think it's unfair."

"I'm sorry you just don't have the... qualifications to go?" It came out as more of a question than an answer. Nico's shoulders shook with silent laughter. "Shut up, Neeks," Will laughed, shoving Nico's shoulder playfully. 

The car I failed to notice before now started honking and a guy with bright green eyes and dark hair leaned out the open window. "Hey, lovebirds! Hurry up and stop flirting! We've got places to be!" 

Will and Nico both blushed. Before turning to walk towards the car.

"Wait, you're dating?" George asked.

Will rubbed the back of his neck before yelling over his shoulder, "Ya, and you just met my boyfriend."

I felt my heart drop to my stomach; Will was never mine to win, and he never would be. I looked back as the couple walked to the car and though about how happy Will was all day at the thought of seeing Nico. 

Will was never mine to win, but maybe that was okay.

Okay so this one was a bit weird just cuz I thought of another idea halfway through but then I still wanted to write this one, so I'm going to write another Solangelo story!! Also if you have another way on how you thought this was going to go or ideas on other one shots just let me know and I will get right on them! I love you all!
