Bob was snuggled under a thick blue blanket on the couch. A heavy rain poured a lulling hussshh from sleepy grey afternoon clouds, making him calm and comforted. He fell in and out of sleep, reading the same paragraph in his book over and over before finally surrendering to dreams. Alex entered the room and noticed the book still loosely held in his hands. Careful not to wake him he removed the book and placed a bookmark in the open page before setting it on a nearby table. With soft movements he re-adjusted the blanket to make sure Bob was properly covered. He smiled at him before returning to the other room to make vegan pancakes and brew tea.

There was the starting low whistle of a tea kettle cut off by a sharp, quick clang; Alex withdrawing it from the stove before it could get too loud. After this came a few shuffled footsteps and the snap of a hand turning off the heat. Bob opened his eyes and slowly took in the room, squirming a little under his blanket to get cozier. Alex came back into the room with two plates of vegan pancakes (bananas, cinnamon and magic) and set them down on the table next to Bob's book. More awake now he sat up and stretched.
"I made us vegan pancakes," Alex smiled and handed sleepy Bob a plate and fork. "Thank you," Bob said and smiled as he tucked into the food. Alex returned to the kitchen for tea then settled in next to Bob under the blanket. They watched a funny movie while enjoying their tea and pancakes, joking at the appropriate bits and savoring each others' company. Once finished they put their plates on the table and stretched. Alex giggled at a nibble of pancake on Bob's nose and Bob looked at him slightly confused.
"What?" he laughed. "Come here," Alex spoke gently, leaning in close and bringing a napkin up to his face, "you got some on your nose." Alex wiped away the smudge of pancake then planted a small kiss on his nose.
"Excuse you, did I give you permission to kiss my nose?!" Bob flirted. Alex kissed his nose again. "I will kiss your cute little nose as many times as I choose!" Bob huffed, feigning annoyance. "Well, I just can't stand for that!" He tickled Alex, who erupted with laughter at the hands squeezing and prodding his sides. Alex tried to get him back but was laughing too hard, and Bob took advantage of this by pinning him down and attacking his armpits and belly.
He didn't go too far, not wanting to cause Alex to have an asthma attack, but his adorable laugh made it hard to stop. Once he stopped Bob rested his head on Alex's stomach and wrapped his arms around him, enjoying the last few spasms of giggles against his face. Alex held him close. They stayed flat on the couch, hugging each other warmly and fell asleep, listening to the faint dialogue on the TV and the downpour of rain outside.
