"You're not a crybaby, you big idiot." He said in a comforting manner. Chad doesn't really do comforting, so that's why it sounds a bit scolding but it's the thought that counts.
I don't bother to wipe the tears from my eyes as he holds me in his arms. I'm much taller than him, but this moment just feels so perfect and I don't want to let go. "I'm sorry," I whisper and he clicks his tongue."Stop. You're apologizing for nothing, and I'm sick of it. There's nothing to be sorry about," he tells me. I should mention that we're sitting in a motel bed, the fanciest one I could find. The reason we're doing this is because we can't go home right now, and that is because I murdered someone; again.
I choked out a sob, leaning into his body. "I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to, I promised you and I did it again. I'm sorry," I weeped. Chad pressed a kiss to the top of my head, and it warmed my insides even though the room was cold. It's something I'd usually do for him, but the fact that he'd even bother to do this for me it's so sweet.
"Hush," he murmured and I did. We sat there in silence (except for my uneven breaths and occasional cries) for what seems like eternity, and then he asks me what he had been trying to a couple hours ago. "I'm sure I don't need to ask, but you cleaned up after yourself right?"I nod my head and let out a shaky breath. I've always been neat to a fault almost, and it feels like my old habits haven't gone anywhere. I know my traumatic past is to blame for everything I've done, but I also know that I should be better by now. I want to be so that I can be the perfect husband for Chad. "I'm sorry you had to see that again. The knife is under the passenger seat."
Chad rolls his eyes now that I'm looking at him, and gives me a wry smile. "Yeah, I saw you put it there. You know we're the ultimate duo, but it's not fun anymore if you go and kill them. Mental tricks not physical, Garret." He chastises, but I don't say a word. He's right of course, but I really can't stand it when men get close to him like that. I know he'd never cheat on me, I'm just scared someone will hurt him. Chad is as fierce as they come, but that guy could've easily overpowered him if he had gotten the chance.
I would never hurt Chad even though I have the strength to do so. I can't trust anyone else to have his best interests in mind, so I'll protect him myself. I've had my run in with plenty of guys and girls, but it never changes the fact that Chad is mine and mine only.
Chad sighed quietly and laid down on the bed, so I became the one holding him. "I'm glad you're my husband. I know that you won't do it again, so I forgive you."
I raised an eyebrow at him and rubbed circles into his shoulder blade, knowing he loved it. Chad made a tiny noise and stretched to become more comfortable. "And, I love you." He added on, his voice quiet.I hummed and looked to check the time. It was almost one in the morning, so he was definitely tired. "I love you too. Get some rest so we can head back in the morning."
Chad let out a half assed groan, and smacked my side with little effort. "You better be carrying me to the car if we're leaving as early as I think we are," he mumbled with irritation.
I packed up the change of clothes we brought and put it in the backseat of the car. At this point, I know Chad is awake because I was extra loud grabbing our things. The only thing is that if he wants me to carry him to the car, he has to pretend to be asleep. I opt for staring at him before leaving, because he is the most gorgeous human alive. He has pretty eyelashes, a cute nose, and nice lips. I wish he'd open his eyes so that I could see the pretty blue, but I'll settle for now.
I slip him out of the sheets and lift him up, carrying Chad bridal style. I pretend I don't see the little quirk of his lips, but it makes me smile to see him being so cute. After returning the key to the front desk, I walk out to the car that I purposefully parked in the farthest spot in the back. I strap him into the seat, and kiss his cheek before getting in the driver's seat to start the drive back home.
