JulesAs soon as I tell both Maria and Metisha that Margot has been kidnapped, Metisha bursts into tears. Despite the sadness I also feel, I look at her with pity. That girl’s always acting like she doesn’t know how to be anything else apart from being a bitch but I know that in there is a big heart full of love and warmth. So also does Margot.
Her name makes my heart ache. If someone had told me yesterday morning that this morning, Margot would be nowhere to be found, I would have declared the person mad and in need of immediate medical attention. But here we are now, with no Margot to call Metisha an idiot for living her hair down even though the wind is blowing strongly.
“We can’t just sit here and cry like as if we are mourning her death.” Maria’s voice, which always carries an air of authority no matter how soft she’s speaking, snaps me out of my thoughts. It seems to have the same effect on Metisha as she quickly wipes her tears and looks at Maria with hope, like as if she has suddenly become her Lord and personal saviour.
“What should we do?” Metisha asks in an unMetishalike tone.
Maria looks at us and with a resigned look on her face, she says, “Firstly, we should inform Philip.”
Metisha and I look at each other, worry written all over our face. We all know how precious Margot is to Philip. How he would react to this news, I don’t know and I am pretty sure, neither does Metisha and Maria.
“We can’t call Philip. You know how much he loves her,” Metisha says, uncrossing her legs.
“And then what? We simply hide the news of his daughter’s kidnap? Let me ask you this, Metisha, if you were Philip, would you want this kind of thing hidden from you?”
One thing I almost forgot to mention is that Metisha and Maria aren’t, to put it in a nice way, fans of each other. Maria doesn’t like the fact that Margot sees men as something to be played with for a short period of time and not to be kept for a long duration not to mention forever, while Metisha doesn’t fancy Maria because, well, in her words, not mine, Maria behaves like someone who came straight out of the BCs when it was believed that a woman’s main purpose in life was to get married and have children.
There’s a saying that ‘Opposites attract’ but that particular saying is proved hundred percent wrong when it comes to Maria and Metisha, they don’t attract even though they are vividly opposites.
“Of course not, Maria. All I’m trying to say is that the fact that it would hurt him should also be taken into consideration,” Metisha states calmly whilst trying to keep her hair down. I remember I have an extra hair tie in my handbag which I had kept in case the wind gets too strong.
I open my bag, take out the hair tie and extend it to her, “We should call Philip,” I say as she takes it. “Like Maria has said, it’s not okay to decide not to tell him because we don’t know how he would react.” I proceed to dial his number when Maria stops me, I look at her and this is when I notice her eyes are full of unshed tears. “I will call him, you’ve done so much already.”
I give a small nod as she takes her cellphone and calls Philip. For Metisha and I’s benefit, she puts it on speaker. “Philip,” She calls, more cautiously than softly when he picks up.
