Chapter Two
I found my way to AP Calc easily enough. The teacher didn't embarrass me too bad- not that I would show it anyway. He did sit me next to the hottest guy alive.
I sat down coyly, aware he was studying me.
"Hello." He greeted me with a warm (more like hot...or steaming...or freaking burning alive), flirtatious smile. He was put together, formal, adorable. He was probably filthy rich, raised europian style, dinner and chanpagne with the parents every weekend, yada yada.
"Hey."
"Maya right?" Even though the teacher had already said my name.
"Yeah. And your name...?"
"Christian."
Of course.
"So you're new here?"
"Yeah." Lies.
"I think you'll like it. And, maybe we could be friends." FRIENDS...Riiiiight.
" Hang out sometime." Smooth. Very smooth.
"Yeah of course."
I took out my phone and texted Laci. I'd gotten all of their numbers after Bio.
M Hey
M What's the stat on Christian??
L OMG are you talking to him?!
I took that as a good sign.
M Yeah why?
L He's the hottest, nicest, smartest, most popular guy at this school!!
M No way!
L Yes way!
M He invited me to "hang out" with him..
L Oh my god can you feel my slow death from the Calc room???
M Hahaha
The class passed by rather quickly, with Christian and I talking every chance we got. I was right about the whole filthy rich thing. But he was actually really nice. He sails. He parties. He's hot.
The bell rang and we parted ways.
I met Laci and we walked together to Photo. She grilled me about everything that happened between Christian and I. It already felt like we had known each other for years.
Photo was fun. I just got to paint until the assignment the other students were working on finished, since I wouldn't be able to catch up.
My design started out as a couple of colorful green swirls. Then somehow, it turned into moonlight passing through pine trees. I was actually pretty proud of it.
"That is beautiful."
I jumped when I heard a husky voice in my ear, tickling my neck. An angel's laugh filled the air.
"Did not mean to scare you. Maya, isn't it?"
I turned around. There stood a tall boy, with a straight nose, curly dark hair, and a messy painted apron. He had a light dusting of freckles across his nose.
