❦ Chapter 6 ~ Confusion ❦

You looked at yourself at the mirror and took a deep breath. You brushed your teeth after washing your face.

You are facing another day but, 'today is gonna be different', you tell to yourself. After the day that you and Chanyeol talked, you've decided to face those fears you buried. You thought that if you bury them, they will just disappear but Jin came back and he's like trying to prove you wrong. And boy, he was right. 

Your fears came back.

You grabbed the towel beside you and wiped your face dry. You prepared for school with a smile on after remembering your talk with Chanyeol.

"Are you happy that you're trying to hide the past away?" Chanyeol asked as he let go of you. Again, you were aghast by his sudden question. Seeing your reaction, he smiled softly.

"Obviously, you don't look like you're happy. But why would you hide what you feel? You know, it's not good to keep your feelings inside. You can always talk to someone." He said as he hold your hands. You were feeling awkward at first but felt comfortable easily. "It would hurt more when you keep it to yourself. It's like you're torturing your own heart." You looked at him and saw him already looking at you.

"And a girl like you shouldn't kill herself with her worthless past. Face your fears, Hyun Ae. I know you're a strong person, you're just blinded by Jin's face." He scrunched his nose like he's annoyed when he mentioned Jin's name. You can't help but chortle at his face. Chanyeol's world stopped when he heard your melodious laugh.

Your laugh is a mellifluous music to him. He can't help but to smile at your response. He felt like he achieved his life's goal and it's to make you happy.

You don't know if you can do it this easily but at least you're trying, right?

After you're done preparing, you went down and saw your mother packing a neat lunch for you. She looked up with her bright smile and waved at you.

"Good Morning, cookie! Eat your breakfast now." She said cheerfully while tying a ribbon on your lunch box for safe keeping. You silently sat on the chair and waited for her to finish. She put your lunch box beside your plate then sat in front of you. You smiled at her. Being the observant mother she is, she noticed something.

"You look so happy today. Did something good happen in your dreams? Hmm. Tell me!" Your mother excitedly asked you.

"Mom, nothing happened in my dreams. There's nothing to tell." You explained with a slight shook of your head as your mom slightly pouted. You can't help but to chuckle at her childish behavior.

"Maybe in reality something good really happened."  You thought.

"Aish. What am I thinking?" You said to yourself loudly. Your mom looked at you strangely as she heard your loud whisper, if you can still call it that.

After eating breakfast, you bid your mom goodbye and walked to school. You put on your earphones on and played a loud song that doesn't bother you but relaxes you.

As you walk, you felt someone running behind you but you just maximized the volume and didn't mind it. And after seconds, charan~

A bright, tall, good-looking guy is beside you panting as he put his hand on your shoulder for support. You stopped walking and faced him. Chanyeol looked at you then grinned.

"Annyeong hasseyo, Hyun Ae!" he greeted you cheerfully. You smiled and bowed at him lightly.

"Annyeong hasseyo, Chanyeol." You said as you bowed. Chanyeol was clearly shocked of your sudden metanoia. His eyebrows knitted together while observing you. You raised an eyebrow at him. Chanyeol thought that you're going to be back with your cold attitude but...

"Is there something on my face?" You asked as you put your hands on your face and wiped the invisible dirt. Knowing that nothing was on you, you asked him. "Chanyeol, are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Chanyeol's system was filled with happiness but kept it inside because jumping around you and clapping like a seal would be a total embarrassment package for him. He just held your hand then swung it his and yours together as you two walk on the sidewalk. He was smiling all the time and you kept on glancing at him. You can't help but to smile too. You don't know but it's like when he smiles, you can't help but to curve your lips to a smile too. It's like something's urging you to do it.

You enjoy the walk with Chanyeol but you've got a bad feeling today. You shrugged the bad things off and tapped Chanyeol on the back. He looked at you, still with his grin on.

"Yeeees?" He said in his cute but deep voice.

"What were you doing there? Do you live there too?" You said referring to the sudden meeting on the streets near your house earlier.

"I live with my aunt. Maybe I just walked 20 steps from her house when I saw you walking on the sidewalk. Then I quickly ran towards you so I wouldn't miss the walk with you." He said while scratching the back of his neck but lowered his voice at the end. You didn't seem to notice because you just nodded with a smile and that really wasn't the reaction Chanyeol will receive from you. Like, duh.

"Oh. When did you started living with her?" You asked curiously.

"Hmm. Maybe three months ago before our first day. My aunt suggested that I should enroll in a school near her house, so it wouldn't be a burden if I just walk from there to home and from school to home." Chanyeol said while gesturing invisible pinpoints on the map. You giggled at his cute gestures. And once again, his world stopped. Tsk tsk.

"So that's why you enrolled in our school?" You asked again even if it's obvious already.

"Yep. But there's another reason though." He added. You unconsciously cocked your head to the side in curiosity.

"What is it?" You asked as soon as he said that. He chuckled at your eagerness.

"And that one," He said as he turned to you before smiling, more like a smirk. You don't know what it is but you got nervous with that new curve of his lips. "Is a secret." He said then let go of your hand as you two reached the school gate. You suddenly felt cold without his warm--

"Hyun Ae..." You heard someone call you from behind. You turned your head towards the person and easily regretted doing so.

"J-Jin..." You gathered all of your strength and powers to say that name. You have to face this fear. And this fear is just right in front of you, elegant and handsome as usual but something about his aura changed.

"Can we talk?" He asked you softly without breaking the eye contact with you. You just nodded and walked away from Chanyeol. Jin looked at Chanyeol then glared at him while Chanyeol innocently looked at him.

When you're already far away enough from the gate of the school, you stopped and waited for Jin to say something. Jin stared at you for awhile before you spoke, making him look at the ground.

"What is it now? First, you fooled me. Second, you cheated on me. Third, you stole my heart. Fourth, you threw it. Tell me, Jin, what's for the fifth?" You said with a straight face while looking at him.

"Hyun Ae, please let me speak first." Jin said then looked at you. Those eyes were the ones who made you drawn to his spell. They're one of your fears. You looked away then crossed your arms. Jin took that as a sign for him to go on.

"Hyun Ae, I'm sorry for everything that I've done to you. I know that you may not trust me again but please, don't.. Don't put your trust too easily to someone whom you've just encountered even all of the things that person did were good. Be careful." He said mysteriously. You looked at him and saw him walking back to the gates.

"Why should I listen to him?"

"Did he come back here just to confuse me?" You muttered while shaking your head.
