" Sam it is time to get up and get ready for your first day of school!" My Mom shouted to me from the first floor. I tried to get out of bed, but my body did not want to listen. I tried to move for the second time. The next thing I knew , I was sitting on the edge of my bed rubbing my eyes. The first day of school is what some kids look forward to, me on the other hand can't wait for it to be over. Getting up off my bed, I walked over to my dresser and pulled out a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. After putting on my clothes, I grabbed my hairbrush and walked over to my mirror. My hair, like normal was in tangles and knots. My pale blue eyes, even though I went to bed before eight, made me look like I had no sleep. My long brown hair only took a little bit to pull into a ponytail. After taking one more outfit look over, I walk down to the living room to find my mother drinking her coffee. " Look who finally decided to come down and talk to her mother." Mom said with a smile on her face. My Mom likes to say that I never come out of my room to talk to her, with dad gone to work all the time she has only one person to pick on. It just had to be me. " It is about time that you came down, it is about time for me to drive you to school. Do you have all of your first day of school things ready to leave?" Looking around the room, I found my backpack sitting on the floor next to the fireplace. I walk over to my backpack and opens it. I remember putting the things in the bag the night before but I needed to make sure. I have my binder, school books, notebooks, pens, highlighters and my earbuds just in case I needed to listen to something on the computer. I know that I am missing something, but I can't think of what it is. " Don't forget to bring your new phone with you. I might need to talk to you during the day." Running back upstairs, back up to my room, I find my phone charging next to my bed. While walking up to my phone I see that my phone's screen was on, showing me a message and the time. The message was from my Dad. The message said, " Have a great day at school kiddo, I hope you make a lot of new friends. Remember , if the teacher is looking at you while you are picking your nose, flick it at the teacher. She will never call on you anymore.LOL. Love you" I could not help but smile at the message. My Dad and I have been good friends for a long time. He was always trying to tell me something to make me laugh. The sad thing is that I don't ever get to see him because of him always having to work extra hours. " Samantha Grey, you better be down here in two seconds or I am coming to get you, and trust me it will not be good!" My Mother's scream brought me back to doing what I needed to do. I do think about my Dad a lot, but if you never get to see him, thinking about him is the only way that I can see him. It's sad that thinking about your dad is the only way to see him. Back downstairs, my Mom was waiting for me with keys in one hand and my backpack in the other. She is big on time, if someone tells her to be there before you need to be there, she will be there a hour before to sit and wait in the car. My Mom was never one to break the rules either. The only time she did was if Dad gave her the idea. " Go get in the car." My mom said to me as she handed me my school bag. After taking my bag, I began to walk to the car. It did not take long though, I was standing next to the passenger side door before I had time to blink. Mom was also somehow in the car before me. Her and this time thing drives me crazy. " Well what are you waiting for ?" My Mom asked me through the rolled down passenger side window. I rolled my eyes and got into the car. Before I wanted to get out of the car, the school's front door came into view. " Welcome to Marshpoint High School Students" is what the sign on the front door said. " Before you know it the day will be over , but if you never get out of this car the day will never begin." I thought to myself. With a sigh, I opened the door and got out the car. " Bye Mom, I will talk to you after school." I said as I shut the door to the car. " Bye Sam, have a good day at school. I love you. " I try to hide my smile. " I love you to Mom." I turned to the school and took a few steps toward it. I turn to get a last look at my Mom. I did not get to see her though, the only thing I saw was the tag on the car before it turned into the main road. Let the day begin.
