That was weeks ago and Lauren still runs home. I couldn't get Ashton off my mind.
After about a month of my visit, Lauren wasn't at school one day. I sat in the bus. I passed Lauren's normal stop and the house seemed quiet. Peaceful. All the curtains were shut. I just guessed Lauren had a migraine or something.
Lauren didn't come into school for at least two weeks. When she came in eventually, her face was covered in sadness. On her way home she didn't sit next to me or anyone. When we got to her stop she walked off the bus.
She didn't run home.
