Scott POV
I lean back casually against my car, pulling the same stunt I pulled yesterday; simply because I know Raine liked it. I laugh at the people as they walk by, whispering and looking at me. I'm not here for their enjoyment. I'm here for someone else. I'm here for Raine.
I'm not going to lie - I'm really nervous about what I have planned for the two of us. Everytime I think about it, I get a little lightheaded. I sound like a pussy. But then there's that other voice inside my head that tells me that she's going to love it. So I shake off the feeling and keep my confident self in control.
As soon as I see her step out of the school building, a smile lands across her face as she shakes her head. She trails down the steps, edging closer to me. The faded skinny jeans emphasized the curvature of her body. She pulled the sleeves of her long-sleeved shirt down to savor herself from the cold. Down right sexy boots fitted the outfit. I studied her hair, sad that her dark locks were tucked into a clean bun atop of her head.
"Is this going to be an everyday thing?" she asks once she finally reaches me. I step towards her, watching as her smile grows.
"Only if you want it to be," I said, feeling our noses brush against each other as I lean closer to kiss her. She responds by stepping forward to connect our kiss. The feeling that overwhelms me is nothing but sweet euphoria. I yearn to touch her more, but, being in a public place, puts restrictions on where I dared to touch her. I couldn't get enough of kissing her, that pulling away was a strange feeling.
She smiles, biting her lip once I look at her. She reaches up, grabbing my sunglasses, gently sliding them off of my face. She looks into my eyes intensely. "Only if you stop wearing these," she almost whispers.
"I'll make no promises," I grin. She takes the sunglasses, putting them on for herself. "You should keep them. They look a lot better on you," I lean in, whispering those words in her ear. I step back, watching her cheeks ignite with blush. It only makes me feel a lot about myself.
I open up the door, letting her get in and buckle herself in. I climb into the driver's side, turning on the engine and revving it a bit to draw a crowd.
"Okay, you can stop being cocky now," Raine rolls her eyes.
"C'mon. I can't have a little fun?" I ask, pouting my lip as I glance over at her.
"Just drive," she looks over at me with red cheeks and a vivid smile on her face. I do as I'm told, shifting the car into drive and speeding out of the school parking lot; again I'm attracting a lot of looks from my tires spinning. I just enjoy doing that.
I pull out onto the highway, maintaining the speed limit just to ensure that I don't get pulled over by the cops. I'm trying to keep a good reputation here!
"Um...where are we going?" Raine glances over at me.
With one hand on the steering wheel, I rested the other on my lap, very tempted to reach over and take her hand in mine. I don't know if we're to that point yet, though. I just readjust myself to look at her. I try to keep a straight face as the urge to smile and confess, but I decided to keep as much detail out as possible. I was in to surprise her.
"Somewhere," I smirk.
She looks at me with a plain expression. Are you serious?, I could practically hear her ask. "No shit, Sherlock."
I laugh.
"No, really. Where are we going? We're obviously not headed home," Raine glances out the window as we drive into town.
I should actually call it a city; considering that it has a population of at least 20,000 people. Semi-large skyscrapers line the city. A scenery of many things can be seen in the city of Weston. Large apartment complexes that I wish Adam would've chosen to live in besides the house out of the city. There's so many shops, of so many kinds, that choosing one is like a crime. You have to visit them all! I'm always coming to this city, loving the size. It's not too big; and it's not too small. A wide variety of shops is in sync with the wide variety of people. It's a beautiful city, I think. And then the other voice chimes in. Don't be a sissy.
"No, we're not," I answer, agreeing with her while keeping a clueless tone.
She looks at me. "Are you going to tell me? Or are you just going to act like a smart ass?"
"I'm a smart ass?" I ask, offended, yet I knew she was joking. I was deliberately changing the subject, too.
"At the moment, yes, you are."
"Well, then, I guess I'm not telling you," I sigh, pulling up to a stoplight.
"Asshole," Raine breathes as she looks out the window. I didn't take it personally. Honestly, it just made me laugh. She glances over at me. "It's not funny."
"I never said it was." I change my attitude quickly to where I seem serious.
But she just laughs.
After driving for a while, we finally came to the intended destination. The cafe. I wanted to bring her here to get a latte, or whatever girls like to get when they go to a coffee shop like Starbucks, and talk. I want to talk to her about school and how she feels about being in a situation like that. If she's holding up or crumbling. I hope she's not crumbling, I think.
She glances at me. "This is where you wanted to take me?" she asks, in disbelief.
"You act as if you're disappointed," I point out, looking at her.
"Well..." her voice trails off. She looks at the cafe, then turning her glance back to me with a soft smile. "I'm not disappointed at all," she shakes her head.
"Good." I smile. "Let's go."
We hop out of the car, my kick-ass car. I walk around, catching up to her. I glance down at her hand, seeing how it fell down to her side. I was impulsive; so I took her hand in mine, lacing our fingers together. She looks down at our hands. My body was going nuts with an electrifying feeling that soared through me when our hands touched. I glanced at her, knowing she felt it, too.
Hand-in-hand, we head into the cafe.
