Early morning by 5 next day, Snehal was making the final arrangement for Haldi ceremony. Since Shehnaaz was Punjabi they also had separate Chooda ceremony for her, it was scheduled after the Haldi ceremony itself. As per customs there were many rituals which had to be performed but since, it was mix kind of marriage of two complete different traditions, the families decided to keep necessary rituals only.
Now for Shehnaaz's haldi to begin, it was important to have Sid's side of ritual to be done first. It was said that the turmeric paste of bride must be from groom's side as it should be used and touched by the groom. Here Rita was trying to convince Sid to come down for the ritual, but he was sitting in his room, making faces.
Sid whining :- Mom, why that paste ? I won't come down. I have seen it in movies. You all would act like all the revenge stored for the years, is going to be taken today itself.
By just imaging Sid made a horrible face.
Looking at Sid's behavior Rita burst out in laughter.
Rita faked a glare :- Don't act stupid Sid.
Sid made a grumpier face.
Sid stomped his foot :- I am still not married Mom and You are already scolding me. I am not going to marry now.
Rita could barely control her laughter after seeing her stubborn child.
Rita :- Offoo.. Sid, Listen to me now carefully, You have to do this because this ceremony is done to glow the face of groom and bride. Do you want to look dull on your own wedding ?
Sid nodded as no.
Rita :- You need to do this because after your ceremony only, Shehnaaz's ceremony will be done as she has to use your paste only. Do you get that ?
Sid nodded as yes.
Rita :- See after the ceremony Shehnaaz will glow more and I want you to be at her level. And for that you need to come down, understood ?
Rita negotiated like we do for small children asking for chocolates and Sid finally agreed.
Rita :- Now be my good boy and come down.
Sid came down, making faces at everyone and sat there grumpily but did complete the ceremony.
