***Author's Note***
Writing an author's note is honestly so weird but I don't care. I'll just say it, this is probably the shittiest poem I've ever written, but it's the best I could do right now. To anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community who's read this, I'm so sorry if I offended you in any way with this load of crap. I'm not saying the content's crap, cause it obviously isn't, but the way I wrote this is just.... I can't describe it. It's just that bad. Again, sorry, please don't kill me, and just say whatever you want about this poem in the comments. I'm sure there'll be a LOT wrong with it.All lives matter. Black lives especially.
Remember the first time
The crowds had had enough
Remember when they stamped and screamed out loud
Not caring about the war waging against them
Remember when they held up signs
With flags of every colour
Remember when they raised their fists up in the air
Declaring with pride: "Say it loud, gay is proud."
Remember the lives lost
To minds narrow and twisted
Remember the lives lost
To actions self-inflicted
Remember the chant
That echoes through the ages
Remember the fight still ongoing
In all parts of the globe
Remember the fact
That you are human beings too
Remember that you can express yourselves better than most
Remember the way it feels
To be with someone you love (or not)
Remember the fact that it's not wrong
To love somebody else
Remember the fact
That those "Christians" on the streets
Protesting and rioting
Have probably never read the Bible from cover to cover
And learned that you must love your neighbour as you love yourself
Remember this:
No one deserves to be judged
For something they can't control
No one deserves to be an outcast
For if and who they want to love
No one deserves to feel alone
In a battle fought by millions around the world
No one deserves to be held back
From who they want to be
So raise your voices with pride
And repeat what I said
Happy Pride Month.
