Hoppos POV
It was the end of another long shift and I couldn't wait to get home, relax and finally catch up with (Y/N). It was very rare that we had time to speak to each other as she is in the army so every second was so precious to me. The relationship had its ups and downs and there's nothing worse than having the constant worry about how (Y/N) is doing or wether she is safe. Every time my phone rang nerves ran through me never knowing if it was going to be that phone call...the one telling me she's gone.
As everyone was collecting their things from the locker room Reidy came up to me "Hey mate, me and a couple of the boys are heading down to the bucket list for a couple of drinks if you wanna join" he asked. "No thank you, I've got to get home, I'm expecting a call from my partner and don't want to miss it, maybe another time" I replied. "Aww come on Hop you don't have to keep pretending that (Y/N) is real, you've kept it up for long enough, we've never even seen her" Maxi joked, "I can promise you Maxi she is real and I'm sure I'll have the pleasure of introducing you to her one day and when that day happens I can't wait to see the look on your face" I joked back to him. I've kept (Y/N)'s job on the down low from the boys, and it's not often I talk about her, which is why I can't blame the guys for not believing me. "Anyway I'm off, remember you guys have work tomorrow, I won't be showing any sympathy towards any hangovers" I said slightly joking but also putting on boss mode knowing I want them to be at peak performance for work tomorrow.
That evening I sat on my couch watching tv, although I wasn't really paying attention, my phone sat in my hand ready for the incoming call, it wasn't often we got the time to chat and when we did it wasn't for long so I wanted to be ready as soon and the phone call came in.
A few minutes later the familiar ringtone sounded and I picked up. "Hey babe, it's so nice to finally be able to call, sorry it's been so long, things have got a bit more serious out here so it's full on at the moment" (Y/N) said, god how I've missed her voice. "That's alright sweetheart it's good to hear your voice, I miss you so much, I can't wait till your mission is over and I can have you back in my arms, I can't help but worry about you constantly" I said sadly, "Oh babe, I miss you too, keep your chin up for me though, I'll be home before you know it" before (Y/N) could continue her sentence I suddenly heard banging sounds which sounded a lot like gunshots. Jumping up out of my seat I started pacing getting worried "(Y/N) hun, what was that sound, it sounded like gunshots, what's going on" I said panicked, "Babe I'm really sorry I have to go, remember I love you" she said hastily "(Y/N) wait, babe, what's happening" I shouted worriedly only not to hear a response, I looked down at my phone and saw that she hung up. My phone fell from my hand to the floor and I stood there frozen in place a million thoughts running through my head.
Nobody's POV
The next day everyone could tell something was up with Hoppo, he barely spoke unless he had to, he had bags under his eyes as if he hadn't slept and stayed cooped up in his office most of the day. Currently a few of the boys were on their break in the tower as well as Hoppo who was sitting in the corner sorting out some of the paperwork. Jesse was sat on his phone watching the news when all of a sudden a story about an army base being attacked came up. The sounds of gun shots mate Hoppos head snap up. "Give me you phone Jesse" Hoppo demanded, the first thing he said in a while. "What, why?" Jesse questioned confused. "Just give it to me" Hoppo demanded. Confused Jesse handed his phone over. Hoppo re-winded a bit and what he saw made his face drop and all colour fade from his face. The base (Y/N) was stationed at was barely a base anymore, it had been attacked by the opposition, and was slowly burning to the ground. "(Y/N)" Hoppo whispered, which didn't go unnoticed by the boys in the tower. They all looked at him in concern. "Hey Hop what's wrong, you don't look too good" Reidy said placing a hand on his back. "(Y/N) was there" he mumbled not moving. Reidy took the phone and looked at what he was watching, his face too dropping when he realised the extent of the situation, (Y/N) wasn't fake, she was in the army which is why Hoppo never really spoke about her, and now his boss and one of his closest friends has possibly lost someone who's so important to him. One by one the boy's seemed to click on and all felt guilty for ripping into Hoppo about pretending to have a partner. No one knew what to say, "Hey, mate, in sure she's safe, why don't you do sit down on the medical bed for a bit to collect your thoughts" Kerrbox said comfortingly leading him down to the medical area.
