"Okay, that's it. I really need to go now." I said as I stood up from being seated on a bean bag at Jess' veranda. We're celebrating her 25th birthday but it's already past 1am. It may be a bit early for some but not for me. I have shit to do tomorrow errr—later pala.
"What? No. One more beer and then we'll let you go." It's the birthday girl. I rolled my eyes on her and looked at her smirkingly as I gather my bag.
"I would've said okay to you kung hindi lang yan ang pang-apat na sabi mo niyan and if I haven't had eight bottles already." I retorted.
She just pouted and rolled her eyes at me, too.
"Wait. Magko-commute ka?" Erwin-Jess' boyfriend asked.
"Yup." I replied. "I didn't bring my car with me. Coding ako eh."
"Saan ka naman sasakay sa ganitong oras ng gabi?" Sammy asked as she opened another bottle of beer for herself.
Umaga na kaya.
I mentally rolled my eyes.
"I'll be able to get a cab naman siguro. Besides, sabi niyo early pa di 'ba?" I said mockingly.
"Migs, why don't you drive Naya home? Mejo delikado nang mag-commute. I'll ask Joey sana because I know he'd be more than willing to, kaso mukhang knocked out na ata." Ate Ranny said while looking at Joey lightly snoring beside Carlo. I chuckled as I've seen their state.
"Alright. Let's go Naya." I gazed up to Miguel. Gosh. How can he be so dashing even if he's just in his dark grey sweat pants and basic black shirt? And how can he be smelling so damn good kahit kanina pa kami umiinom at kanina pa buga nang buga ng usok si Carlo at Joey?
"Are you sure? I mean, kaya ko naman mag-commute. Sina Sammy lang naman 'tong praning." I said as we faced each other. Grabe ang bango talaga!
I was just making sure tsaka mejo nahihiya talaga ako magpahatid. As much as possible kasi, ayokong nakakaabala.
"It's okay. I need to get some fresh air, anyway." He said and flashed his annoyingly handsome smirk at me.
"Sige."
We bid our goodbyes to our friends and drove. While driving, I noticed how quiet Miguel is. He's really not talkative but not this quiet either. I felt like something's off.
I chose to let it pass though. Tahimik naming tinatahak ang kalsada but stopped on the red light and then my eyes caught someone familiar was crossing the street.
It was Monica, Miguel's girlfriend.
Okay lang sana kung siya lang mag-isa but she's with some guy. Okay lang din sana kahit may kasama siyang lalaki, kaso nakaakbay ito sa dalaga at sweet na sweet na naglalampungan while crossing the street.
My sight panned immediately at Miguel and saw him furiously looking at the two subjects in front of us. I saw his knuckles turned white as he gripped the steering wheel. I wanted to say something, anything actually, just to make the situation better but nothing came out kasi alam ko namang wala akong magagawa sa sitwasyong kinalalagyan niya ngayon.
Instead, as soon as the light switched to green, he drove off fast. So fast that my heart began to pound loudly dahil sa takot. I'm not a fan of driving fast. I don't like it. I hate it!
