With the twins' help, Harry's trunk was now tucked away in a corner of the compartment. "Thanks," Harry said, pushing his sweaty hair out of his eyes.
"What's that?" one of the twins, (George, if Harry remembered correctly. But it could have easily been Fred) pointing at Harry's forehead.
"Blimey," Fred or George whistled. "Are you---"
"He is," the other gasped. "You are, right?" he added to Harry.
"What?" Harry said, his face feeling quite warm.
"Harry Potter," chorused the twins, their eyes wide.
"Oh, him," Harry shifted. "I mean, yeah. I am." He chuckled nervously.
The two boys gawked at him and Harry could feel himself turning red. Then, to his relief, a voice came floating through the train's open door. "Fred? George? Are you there?"
"Coming, Mum." And, with one last look at Harry, the twins hopped off the train.
Harry heaved a sigh as he sat down next to the window where, half-hidden, he could watch the red-haired family and hear what they were saying. Their mother had just taken out her handkerchief.
"You've got something on your nose, Ronald." The youngest boy tried jerking out of the way, but she granted him and began rubbing the end of his nose.
"Mum---gerroff!" He wriggled free.
"Has ickle Ronnie got somefink on his nosie?" crooned one of the twins.
"Shut up," grumbled Ron.
"Where's Percy gone to?" asked their mother. Just as she said that, the eldest boy came striding over. He had already changed into his billowing black Hogwarts robes, a crimson and gold tie around his neck and, Harry noticed, a matching badge on his chest with a lion on it, along with a P.
"Can't stay long, Mother," he said. "I'm up front. The prefects have got two compartments to themselves---"
"Oh, are you a prefect, Percy?" asked one of the twins with a great air of surprise. "You should have said something. We didn't know."
"Wait, I think I remember him saying something about it." The other twin tapped his chin. "Once---"
"Or twice---"
"A minute---"
"All summer---"
"Oh, shut up," snipped Percy the Prefect. Harry wondered if he had heard that right, but he knew he had.
"How come Percy the Pinhead gets new robes?" a twin asked.
Their mother ignored the Pinhead comment, saying fondly, "Because he's a prefect. Third in the family. All right, dear, have a good term---send me an owl when you get there." She kissed Percy on the cheek and he left. She turned to the twins. "Now, you two listen to me---don't get into any trouble, you hear? If I get one owl telling me you've blown up a toilet---"
"A toilet? We've never blown up a toilet."
"Thanks for the idea, Mum."
