"Come quickly, Calysta. Follow me" Teresa said, as I followed her through the crowded train station. Everyone was saying goodbye to their families one last time before the train took us to Hogwarts. My feet were stepped on a few times, and I may have a few bruises on my shoulders, but I was so elated and excited for the train I didn't care in the slightest. It was my first year at Hogwarts, Teresa's fourth.
Teresa was my older sister. We had a younger one as well, Leighanne (Leigh as everyone called her) who was two years younger than myself. Teresa and Leigh weren't as close as I was with each of them, and to be honest, they rarely agreed unless I persuaded both of them. And at that, it was a struggle with a lot of compromises on each side. They were both very stubborn and determined for their own agenda, but that was maybe the only thing they were similar about.
"Okay, here" Teresa said, as we reached a compartment, where there were two other girls and a guy. "Calysta, this is Andrea, Virginia and Chris. Friends, this is my oldest younger sister Calysta." Teresa introduced, and they all smiled kindly, before delving back into conversation, mostly about summers and new classes.
Teresa was in Slytherin, which was the house where both mother and father were placed in. Everyone believed I would too. Teresa and I were very similar to our parents, Teresa particularly to mom while I was very similar to father. I was definitely my father's daughter - people would joke I was his favorite, with Teresa being mom's.
Leigh.. well Leigh was Leigh. She definitely did not fit the Avariance family mold. She was loud mouthed, impolite, and cause raucous whenever possible. I loved her, since I knew her intentions were only to gain attention from our parents - even though it was bad attention.
The train ride was long, and I decided that Teresa and her friends' conversation was not interesting to me in the slightest. I stared out the window most of the ride, commenting on the conversation when necessary and being polite.
After what seemed like a long time, although the countryside views were beautiful, the train finally stopped and people began to depart.
"Okay, Calysta, I will see you in Hogwarts. You get to go with the other first years in the boats. I don't know why, but it's pretty. I love you, sister and good luck" She said, before hugging me tightly and then letting me go follow other first years.
I followed swiftly and was guided to a large, seemingly obese hairy man, who told us to go on small little wooden boats. I rolled my eyes. What would happen if one of the stupid boys decided it would be nice to play a joke and tip the boat over? My new uniform and everyone else's would be ruined and we would be in a sea of unknown creatures. Stupid decision on headmaster's part.
I sat down in a boat, and pressed my skirt flat so it would not wrinkle. I looked around me, as the others were all sitting there awkwardly looking at each other, attempting to make eye contact to connect with others. I decided against being awkward, and instead gazed around me at the landscape. Mother, father and Teresa were all true, Hogwarts was beautiful. The lake, despite the danger of creatures that lurked beneath the surface, was trully jawdropping in glamour.
When we finally arrived at the castle, and McGonagle started talking, I analyzed my future classmates. They all seemed to be cliqueing away - despite the fact we would be sorted into different houses in mere minutes. Like what are you going to say to the person you decided to become "besties" with once you're sorted into different houses? Like "oh sorry. thought you would be in ______. Guess you're not who I thought you were. Bye?" Or not speak at all? That would get major awkward if you were in the same class together. Ouch. Wouldn't wanna have that happen to me, personally.
