Harry James Potter--Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorcerer, Chief Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confederation of Wizards, and defeater of the Dark Lord himself--was one hundred and twelve percent sure he had never felt so lazy before in his life.
He didn't know why; it wasn't like he'd woken up this morning and thought, hmm, today seems as good a day as any to be the most unproductive person to breathe. Yet here he had lain, in his king-sized bed, for the past four hours.
To be fair, he wasn't the only one. His girlfriend, Ginny Weasley, lay right beside him, entertaining herself by leaving a trail of blue sparks wherever her wand went.
Oh, yeah, they were wizards. He'd forgotten about that.
He watched as Ginny made twirls in the air, her sparks becoming multicolored. Suddenly bored with sparks, she turned her attention to their bedroom.
While it was true that they had both graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry already (Harry had gone back to school the year after defeating the Dark Lord and had graduated with her, along side his two other dropout friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Ginny's older brother), their eggshell-white painted room was absolutely plastered with posters from muggle and wizard bands alike, since they had introduced each other to quite a lot of bands (there was also a few Quidditch teams on there too). Their bedroom was also kind of messy, since Harry wasn't very neat and neither was Ginny.
"Let's see here," said Ginny, and, with a wave of her wand, the clothes that were in heaps seconds ago either made their way to the laundry room or stacked themselves in piles. With another twirl, the small parts of the walls visible became sky blue. She grinned at him and said, "Wow, I'm good."
He was about to open his mouth and say, yeah, you really are, when all of a sudden she scooted over and cuddled on to him. "Being cool is hard," she noted. "Time to go back to being lazy again," and she closed her eyes, hugging and holding on to him.
He stared at her and was once again blown away by her complete beauty. Her long ginger hair, messy and tangled, somehow still managed to look like a halo framing her lovely freckled face. And her eyes--God, her eyes. Long, thick, curly copper lashes rimmed her brown eyes. No one gave brown eyes much credit, but in the sunlight, and while she was laughing/smiling, or whenever they were doing anything, they looked like the prettiest thing he could think of. Also, her grey tank top and red shorts were definitely weren't helping.
But it wasn't only that. She was beautiful, yeah, but plenty of girls were beautiful. Harry's favorite thing about Ginny was her personality. It sounded cheesy, but it was true: her personality was the best thing about her. She was tough--not in a bad way, but she was gutsy and brave. She was funny, and caring, and compassionate, and warm, and sweet, and took crap from nobody, and looked like she could kick your butt and also bake you cookies, possibly at the same time.
And as he stared down at this girl, who looked delicate and soft, but who he knew was strong and tough, he couldn't help but remember the words he'd never told her before, even though they already lived together. And he'd always felt them, but he hadn't wanted to say them before either of them were ready.
With a sudden boldness, he said, "Hey, Gin?"
"Mhmm?" she replied sleepily.
"I--I love you."
Ginny's eyes suddenly popped open. She sat up quickly, and turned around to face him, so that they were inches apart. "What did you say?"
Harry's face burned, and he began regretting this completely. But it was too late to take it back now. "I--I, uh, I said I love--"
But before he could finish, Ginny pressed her lips against his.
Harry tried again. "I lo--" she kissed him again.
He attempted to say the phrase he'd feared so much for so long again and again, but she kept kissing him.
Finally he gave up. "Alright, alright, you win, okay, Gin?" he said, laughing.
She kissed him one last time, this one stronger and fiercer than the rest. "I love you too, idiot," she murmured, and snuggled up to him once more.
