"What is the paper for?" Taehyung asked.
"Don't you know?" one of his other colleagues, Mr. Kim, asked him back, "You write a wish and tie it at the end of the lantern before making it fly to the sky. It's like sending a wish to heaven."
Taehyung beamed at the thought but then his daze was quickly ended when another female has lined up in front of him, asking for one of the designed lanterns that their department have made for the festival. He greeted the customers with a smile as he assisted them on their orders. As the lighting of the lanterns was coming closer, the customers also started decreasing. Taehyung knew that the people were now gathering in the open field, excited to let their lanterns fly in the sky.
Have you ever been in a lantern festival before?
Dahyun's voice echoed in Taehyung's head.
You said you'd watch it with me.
Have you broken your promises with me? Or are you waiting for the right time to grant them all?
I need to find you and I'll make you remember all the promises you made with me.
He huffed but as his gaze travelled towards the front, his eyes caught a familiar figure. He squinted, trying to deduce if the image was real but then his curiosity was cut short when he felt a hand grab his shoulder.
"Here," Mr. Shin handed him a lantern. "I'll go easy on you and let you join the festival."
"Really? Thank you," Taehyung smiled at the old man as he received the gift. As he turned to find the figure again, he realized that it was gone.
He silently walked towards the field as his thoughts were filled with the image he had seen a while ago. Brushing it off as a hallucination, Taehyung shook his head. His attention was caught when someone had offered to light his lantern for him. He thanked the little boy and as he looked at the sky, he realized that people had already started letting their lanterns fly away. With a contented smile, he let his lantern join the Feast of Lights in the sky and he stared at the small piece of paper that slowly travelled upwards, swaying with the wind.
You were right, Taehyung thought. It really looks like thousands of lights dangling in the sky.
He huffed before averting his gaze back in front and the familiar figure caught his attention once again. Unknowingly, he walked towards it, not letting his gaze waver from the sight of the girl letting his lantern fly towards the sky. When he realized that the crowd was starting to move, his feet started speeding up, matching with the loud beating of his heart. The closer he went towards her, the more he was convinced that the image wasn't a hallucination. The girl admiring the same sky he was under in, was real. He widened his eyes as he was about to lose her again with the density of the people moving in the area. In desperation, he tried shouting her name,
"Dahyun! Jeon Dahyun!"
The figure turned and Taehyung was able to get to see the face he longed to see but he quickly regretted it as he remembered her Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
She might run away from me, he thought. She'll have an attack.
He halted his steps as fear and worry started to consume him but all his troubles were immediately casted away as soon as he saw her smiling at him.
Dahyun waved her hand at the male, acknowledging Taehyung's presence.

Author's Final Note
Hello. So here goes your open ending. Hahahaha. The original fic actually has two long chapters of a sequel but I am not sure if I will publish it here. Hahahuhu. But the original fic is titled "Silence's Labyrinth" and you can read up the supposed sequel if you want jajajshda but open endings are great, I swear. Haha.
If you would notice, I didn't really focus on the psychological part because I don't have much knowledge about it hahahuhu and it was just used as a distraction for the real thing ahjsdahsdj. I know some of it didn't make sense, please forgive my younger self. Hahahuhu.
But thank you for bearing with this story! Thank you for reading this fic! This is the only fic I have written which is not really centered on romance but on the thriller/suspense part, and I hope you enjoyed it. Please don't forget to vote the chapters if you did enjoy reading. Hehe.
Thank again to @yoonkookskimchii for making the poster of this story. Thank you to everyone who read and commented. Sorry if I'm not replying to most of the comments but please know that I truly appreciate them all. Hehe.
I recently publsihed a vhyunkook fic titled "Ardent Lovers" and I hope you could check it out too. :)
Thanks again everyone!
