[ The Colors of Change ]
*Riiiiiiinnnnngggggggg*
Students started to gather and walk around the campus. Happy squeals. Jolly faces. All programmed to create and boost up positive moods. Sharing how their vacation turned out. Bubbling some jokes and many more. Professor Pam, a history teacher, just went out from the room of Class 2-1.
He looks uneasy as his gaze is obviously unstable.
*Blag*
He is about to pick, but suddenly...someone handed it to him. He traced his gaze to the owner of the hand. A deep sigh escaped from his tensed lips.
"W-w-hat are. . y-ou doing here?" sticky sweats started to form into his forehead.
"Uhm, nothing Professor. You just forgot your precious pen in our classroom, so I followed you to give it back" the eye of the student abruptly changed emotion "You look so scared, Professor. Wha-"
"Go back to your classroom now, miss Zero. Your next professor might be there already" he hurriedly made his way to his office after he grabbed the pen and his fallen books without even throwing a glance at the young lady behind.
"Weird, he's always like that when I'm around."
Zero, a straight class 1 student.
She just decided to go back hastily to her class. Her black wavy long hair was played by the wind.
Too fast, she didn't notice that shadow watching her in the corner of the dark corridor.
* * * * * * *
The thundering pipe organs.
The towering of domes.
The voices raised in song.
The stained glass.
The shimmering bronze and gold.
That's the normal setting and view in the life of a five-year-old young kid.
Zero grew up in an orphanage, she spent most of her childhood days visiting the church, sometimes with a nun accompanying her, but most of the time, with a none. She's a shy girl, never approached kids in the place unless someone forces her to do so.
"Zero! Please come over, dear. Meet Mr. And Mrs. Uy, they want to adopt you."
The kind and gentle nun speaking is sister Dorothy Montefalco, she's been watching over Zero since that lucky night, when a masculine man, covered in a black hoody, dropped by to leave the innocent Zero in front of the orphanage. Fortunately, the sister had been roaming around that night to pick up the late food delivery at the gate. The gentle nun's heart was moved on the moment that she laid eyes on the soft face of Zero.
"Ngayon na po ba ako aalis, Sister?" the five-year-old Zero's precious blue eyes sparked as tears started to dampen her long lashes.
"Oo, anak..... sila na ang mga bago mong magulang." She ran her fingers to the soft cheeks of the kid, wondering if she'll be fine in seeing her beloved Zero go. But setting aside the pain, she's eager to let her grow as a normal kid, having parents, and having a real home.
Though filled with questions and doubt, Zero strode her little feet to get her things inside her room.
Since that day, Zero Elysha Uy's life started to change color.
