“So you're still on your usual red Sting huh?” I chuckled seeing him gulp that red drink. He's still not into alcohol. I thought. One of the reasons why he turned me on, way back.
“Yeah. Just like the old times.” He said as he looked straight into my eyes. A small smile traced on his lips.
“Just like the old times..” I repeated.
His gaze tightened. Uhh ohh. And then I cursed myself for not able to say anything different instead of repeating his phrase. I look down. An awkward chuckle came off from our mouth.
“By the way, you left your band there. Are they okay without you?” I turned my head back to the hall, my eyes searching for his band. They're still playing. Tongue Tied was blazing all over the hall.
♫♪ “I stare up at the stars, I wonder just where you are, you feel a million miles away...” ♫♪
Funny how I used to sing this years ago, under the stars, at 11:11pm. I feel he's million miles away though literally, he's just one-glance-at-the-window away from me. Now, just one foot away, but the feeling's still the same, this time doubled. I instantly look down. Again. And I notice he did too. What-- wait.. Have we been staring at the stars literally few moments ago? I blush. And so does he.
“Of course. They can manage. Afterall, wala naman dun ang number 1 fan ko..”
5 seconds of internalization and I finally got it that he had just answered my question. I even forgot that I did throw a question. Blame his world-shattering instant confession.. Or is it?
Our gaze met. We're eyes to eyes now. I was busy deciphering that phrase through his eyes when he quickly added,
“...dati.”
Oh yeah. That’s me. That WAS me. His number 1 fan. Ugh.
“Yeah. Dati..” I repeated. For the second time. Gahh. Why can't I throw more sensible words back to him other than repeating his every freaking words?
“I remember dati...” I started, after taking a single long gulp from the San Mig that he’d just given.
