you couldn't be late- not on your first day, and especially not on your first day working in the FBI.
you rushed through the glass doors and made your way to the elevator, juggling your briefcase and coffee cup from starbucks.
you pressed the elevator button for the floor you had been told to go to, and as the doors began to close, you heard a frantic "hold the doors, please!"
you quickly pressed the button to hold the doors open, and a tall, lanky man stepped in, giving you a small "thanks."
"what floor?" you ask politely.
the man replies, "10"
"oh, looks like we're going to the same place," i smiled at him as the elevator began to move. "do you work there? with the BAU, i mean."
"uh- yes. yes i do, i'm Dr. Spencer Reid." he told you.
"i'm y/n l/n."
"what's brings you to the BAU, y/n?"
"we shall see," you reply slyly before the elevator doors open and you walk out and into the bullpen area.
"Miss l/n," you hear from your left and turn to see Aaron Hotchner standing outside his office, "come see me in my office." and he walked inside.
you step inside the office, closing the door to his request, and taking a seat in front of him.
"so, my team doesn't know we're getting another technical analyst, except Garcia, of course. but here is your badge, which you shouldn't need often," he handed it to you, "as you know, you'll be starting today, so before we get you settled into your office with Garcia, i'd like to introduce you to the team." he told you.
"yes, of course, thank you. and i already met Dr. Reid on the elevator." you smiled at the thought of the tall doctor.
"i hope he didn't bore you with his random elevator facts," hotch said with a ghost of a smile.
"no, nothing of the sorts." you smile back at him, and through that you knew this team worked as a family, and you just hoped you would be accepted into it.
there was a knock at the door and Hotch told the person to come in.
"Sir, we're ready to present the case- oh, hello!" the woman you knew to be Penelope Garcia said, entering the room.
"hi!" you respond cheerfully.
"omg, you're my new partner! i'm Penelope Garcia!"
"yeah! i'm y/n l/n!" you respond, your whole body now facing her.
"can i give you a hug?" she asked excitedly.
"yes, of course! it's so nice to meet you!" you tell her and stand up as the two of you hug as a greeting.
"alright, you two can kiss later but for now we need to present this case." Hotch said, obviously joking.
so the three of you made your way over to the conference room, and you could see many people in the bullpen giving you questioning looks.
"Avengers, assemble!" Penelope said, and a few agents out of the bullpen began to make their way into the conference room.
you took a seat in a chair next to where Penelope was standing to present the case.
you saw Dr. Reid walk in, as well as a dark skinned man, a petite blonde woman, a woman with black hair and bangs, and an older gentleman with greying hair.
they all took seats, all of them looking at you as you just smiled back.
"team, this is our newest technical analyst, y/n l/n. she will be joining Garcia in assisting us when we need it."
"Miss l/n, very nice to meet you," the older gentleman was sat across from you and stood to shake your hand and you accepted, "Special Agent David Rossi."
you nodded at him with a smile.
"SA Derek Morgan," the African American man said.
you gave him a small hi, and a smile.
"SA Emily Prentiss, nice to meet you." the woman with dark hair smiles at you.
"and you," you told her, smiling.
"Jennifer Jareau, but everybody calls me JJ. glad to have another female to overthrow these boys." she told you with a smile.
you gave a small laugh, "if that's the plan then i'm all for it."
you got a few laughs from the team, which made you smile.
you then turned to Dr. Reid, "and we met in the elevator, hello, Dr. Reid."
he gave a small "hello" and waved at you.
"okay team, now that you've met my new techie sister, we have a case."
Garcia began to explain it, and you listened intently.
"wheels up in 30," Hotch said as everyone got up from the table and you got up with them.
"so, y/n, what made you want to work with the BAU?" Emily asked you.
"honestly? i just knew i wanted to be a technical analyst for the FBI, it didn't matter to me which department. i would be happy to work anywhere. when i found out the BAU was looking for someone to help out their TA, i was so excited, and i immediately applied. a few interviews and a background check later, and here i am."
"so," Rossi asked, "who's the lucky guy?" he gestured to the ring on your left hand.
"oh- uh. my fiancé- he passed away a few years ago and i like to wear the ring in memory of him." you say sadly.
"i'm so sorry, i didn't-" Rossi began.
"no, no, it's fine, really. i've started dating again- er- at least i've tried to. i think i might be too old for dating sites."
"how old are you?" Emily questioned.
"only 28 but i guess nobody my age is still single- or if they are, they're good enough at asking a stranger for their number that they don't need a dating app."
you explain.
"yeah, i can never get a guy to stay long, i guess it's just me being gone all the time with cases." Emily said as the group began to make their way out of the conference room.
"i actually was talking to a girl for a while a few months ago, but she suddenly blocked me out of nowhere, so," you trail off.
"oh! are you-?" JJ began, not knowing if she should finish.
"i'm bisexual, it's fine you don't have to be shy about it, i've been out for a long time now." you tell her, waving your hand up and down.
"ok, well, as much as i love you girls getting to know each other, i need to steal y/n so i can show her our wonderful techie cave." Garcia says, grabbing you by the shoulders and hauling you away as you laugh goodbyes to your new teammates.
you can tell this is going to be your new family.
