They say luck is a cruel mistress. Some say it's memory. Everyone has their own version of it.
They're all wrong.
The only cruel mistress is time. Time doesn't stop for you. Time doesn't wait for you. You can't beat it, you can't cheat it, you can't outrun it. No matter how far or how fast you run, it's pointless. Time always catches up to you. Always one step ahead, two steps ahead. And once it's gone, you can't ever get it back.
People think the one thing we can't ever overcome and must always fear is death. That's a load of bullshit. Death is not the enemy. It's time. Time kills you. Time kills everything- from humans, to animals, to inanimate objects like houses and skyscrapers. From the tiniest atom, to the entire Universe. In the end, it will all perish at the hands of time. It will all bow down to it in fearful submission. Because Time rules over all that ever was and ever will be. And there is nothing anyone can do about it.
There's no way to overcome time. There's no way to go back. Once the threads of fate have been woven, there's no way to change what has been done.
Or is there?
Guess I'll have to find out.
