"Bye!" I yell as the bright yellow Los Angeles taxi cab speeds away. My friends wave at me from the backseat and I wave back. As they turn a corner and dissappeard into the night I walk towards my house, pulling down the hem of my little skin-tight white dress, laughing about the events of the night. It's my 21st birthday and some of my close friends took me out to a club to celebrate.
After six of seven shots, dancing and making out with some guy named... What was his name again? Brandon? Bryce? Oh well, it didn't matter. Bottom line, I was totally wasted and the night was the most fun I've had in a very long time.
My smile quickly fades as I look towards my front door. Sitting on the porch steps is my ex-boyfriend, Ashton Irwin, with his headphones in, as always, and a wrapped box in his hands. He looks up as I get closer and stands up hastily, looking a bit lost, like a child who'd lost his parents in a foreign country in which he didn't understand the language, and didn't know what was going on.
I slowly walk closer, still tipsy in my heels from having too many drinks,"Hello, Ashton."
"Hello, Emily"
"So what brings you here?" I ask trying to keep it casual. Last I'd heard, Ashton and the rest of his band were in Australia touring and promoting their newest album. What was he doing here?
"Uhm..." He stutters, then chuckles nervously. "You know, I had everything that I was going to say all planned out, but now than I'm here..." He laughs again. "Look can we talk?"
