the police were obliged to treat it as a murder investigation but they became lazy as every officer on the case believed it to be just another suicide caused by an overly stressful situation. the officers were unfocused and just wanted to close the case already but Robert was in denial and had already started to collect suspects. whereas Luke was trying to get Robert out of this insane phase and get him to accept the fact that she was gone.
Robert was constantly on the police's back about new leads and trying to get them to find out the autopsy results. everyday there was less and less officers at the venue and the case became discarded. this lead Robert to face the fact that she was gone. this crazy turn of events somehow brought the boys closer together and the put aside their hatred for one another as Carly would have wanted . Luke had finally convinced Robert that his conspiracies were just a hope to pass the blame but the police called with the autopsy results. Luke picked up and took the phone call privately he was trying to be friends with Robert for Carly but he couldn't Robert was the reason that Carly and him weren't together.
the autopsy showed that she had been pregnant and showed signs of struggling around the neck but the cause of death was ingested poison.and by the fetus they could find out the farther. Luke was about to tell Robert but decided to get the DNA test alone as he still wasn't sure about Roberts friendship but also didn't want Robert to relapse into his crazy detective state.
