Adrienne Hotchner was known for her resilience. Growing up with two older brothers, she was used to being knocked down, being treated like she was less. Like she was weak. She didn't let that stop her. Her mother once told her, "Adrienne, baby, don't let anyone push you around. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything. Your resilience will shine through." Of course, Adrienne didn't remember much about her mother. She died a couple of hours after she was born, but Adrienne found her mother's journal, full of letters to her and her brothers. She took her late mother's words to heart. She remembered them when the kids in school made fun of her for being the youngest in the class, she remembered them when her older brothers pushed her around and refused to let her join, she remembered them when her father started drinking and started to take his hurt and anger out on his children, she remembered those words when she fell in love with an abusive asshole, and she remembered them when she walked back into her brother's life after months of no communication.

Adrienne wasn't surewhat she would get out of going to her brother. They weren't as close as theyonce were, but Adrienne was lost. No matter how much she hated admitting thatshe needed help, she had no other option. So, with the hopes of her brotherforgiving her for her absence, she made the choice to go visit him. Out of allthe things Adrienne hoped for from her visit with her brother, the one thingAdrienne wasn't excepting was to find was Dr. Spencer Reid
