"Where are we going?"
Frank is driving his red car; driving it like we're in a hurry. I'm not complaining though. I am very eager to know his side of the story and why mom sent me to him.
"Just trust me." He says smiling.
"I do." I nod and face his direction.
I trust him. I really do. I have a good feeling that he might help me out. I don't know what's he's going to help me out with but I'm hoping that he would answer all of my questions. Tonight. I just can't wait any longer.
"Good." He says and hands me over this paper bag from the back seat, "Here."
"What's this?" I started opening the paper bag only to reveal to me some McDonalds, "Oh, thank you." I say, acting like my stomach's not growling.
"I just thought you were hungry." He explains, still eyeing the road, "You only ate a sandwich earlier. It was a long trip from your house to my shop."
"You know where I live?" I gush.
Frank's still not answering my questions and still concentrating on his driving.
I grab a bunch of fries and I bite down slightly annoyed.
I know he told me that he'd answer all my questions at wherever we're going but it wouldn't hurt if he'd answer even the smaller and simpler ones.
I glance at my watch and I realize that its already sundown. That means he'll be finally feeding my curiosity with his answers. Not unless we arrive at our destination though.
Finally.
I grab the burger inside the paper bag and bite down into it. I was too deep into my emotions earlier that I didn't even realize that I was so starving and so exhausted.
I notice how long we've been driving right now. Its already dark out and I've already finished my Mcdonald's but we're still not at our destination. I don't even recognize this neighborhood anymore. I think we're out of town.
"Can I at least know where we're going?" I'm just getting so frustrated.
"Don't need to." Frank grins while pushing on the breaks, "We're here."
I look at him, slighty irritated because I've been "patiently" waiting in the car for more than an hour. But I'm also nervous about hearing Frank's answers.
I face the front of the car, outside the windshield...
Lights.
I take off the seatbelt and quickly walked outside of the car door. Still grabbing the door, my eyes glitter to the beauty that I am seeing right at this moment.
Frank walks outside the car too and closer to the view.
City lights.
"Come here." Franks says, gesturing me to come closer.
I close the car door and walk towards him.
"This is amazing."
We are at the edge of a cliff, tall trees all around us; we're in nature. I can feel and hear the breeze of fresh air that's blowing around my hair and skin. I close my eyes, trying to inhale everything that surrounds me. The stars above shines, complimenting the lights below; giving them a spotlight.
I am out of words.
"What town are we in?" I suddenly ask.
"Hillwood."
My mouth opens in disbelief, "This is still Hillwood?"
I thought I've already known Hillwood cover to cover, but I've never come up here. Maybe because its too far from home or I'm just not as adventurous as I thought I was. But whatever reason it is, I finally get to see this part of my hometown.
