❄ Third POV❄

As you step inside the house, you find your father leaning on the couch, with his eyes closed. You observe him for a while and realize that he is sleeping. You let out a sigh of relief and slowly made your way to your room. However, your movements come to a halt when your father calls out your name.

"Y/N!" he calls, and you feel a knot form in your stomach. You gulp nervously and curse under your breath.

"Fuck-" you mutter, as you turn shakily to face your father, who is already looking at you.

"Yes, Dad?" You stammer, unsure of what he wants.

"Where have you been since last night?" he asks you, his tone laced with concern. You are at a loss for words, as you cannot tell him about Jimin.

"I was at one of my friend's houses for group study!" You lie, looking down at your feet.

"You should have informed me that you're going to stay with your friend. I was worried about you!" he says, his worry evident on his face.

You are surprised to hear these words from your father, and your eyes widen in shock. You look up at him, and you see that he is genuinely concerned about you. You never expected this reaction from him, especially since he could be strict at times.

Feeling guilty for lying to him, you apologize, putting your head down.

"I am sorry," you say, remorseful.

"I have cooked pancakes. Go change your clothes and have your breakfast. And let me know if you need anything else!" he offers before walking out of the room.

You stand there, stunned, trying to process the sudden change in your father's behaviour. You wonder what could have caused this shift in his attitude and why he is acting so differently all of a sudden. As you make your way to your room, you can't help but ponder over these questions, hoping to find some answers soon.

~~ Few minutes skip ~~

You have just finished eating your favourite pancakes when you head to the kitchen. Your father is there, washing dishes. You are surprised to see him doing this, and he notices your presence.

"Do you need something?" he asks, placing the cup down.

You find it hard to believe that your father has changed so much overnight. He is speaking kindly to you and showing affection, which is a new experience for you.

"Um...yeah. I came to drink some water," you respond, averting your gaze and opening the fridge.

As you do so, you are shocked to see that there is no wine bottle there. Your father notices your surprise and explains, "I have decided to stop drinking from now on!" He wipes his hand with a serviette and smiles at you.

You feel as though you are in a dream. Your father has never smiled at you before. It's a new experience for you.

"O-Oh! That's good for your health," you manage to say before turning to leave. However, your father calls out to you.

"Y/n, can we talk?" he asks, looking at you intently. You turn around and nod.

Your father takes a deep breath and seems nervous. You can tell from his body language.

"Look, I am sorry for everything I did to you. I know I have acted horribly towards you. I shouldn't have pushed you away and blamed you for your mother's accident. I forgot the promise I made to your mother when she was conscious. Last night, when you weren't home, I realized how wrong I was. I am not a good dad, and I failed to keep my promise. I am sorry, dear. I am so sorry. But please give me a second chance. I am trying to be a better person for you, a better dad for you," he says, tears running down his cheeks.

Your eyes fill with tears as well. Finally, your father has realized that he was wrong. He is ashamed of himself and no longer deserves to be called "Dad."

"Dad, it's okay. I am glad to see that you are making an effort to be a better person. That's enough for me. I love you, Dad!" you say, hugging him.

"I love you too, dear," he responds, hugging you back.

Finally, you are happy. The dark, cloudy sky over you is starting to clear. It's as though the sun's rays are piercing through the dark clouds, giving you hope to live your life with happiness. Your dream is coming true.

But you wonder, will this newfound happiness last forever?

~~~~~~
Last year, my father passed away, and I lost one of the most important person in my life. Despite being a wonderful dad, he made some mistakes that had a significant impact on our family. We all suffered a lot due to his actions, and by the time he realised his mistakes, it was too late to undo the damage. However, in the final days of his life, he refused to give up and worked tirelessly to make amends for his past actions.
I am incredibly proud of my dad for never losing hope and persevering until the end. I loved him deeply, but I never had the chance to tell him how much he meant to me. To this day, I still miss him terribly, and I find myself holding onto the hope that he is still with me in some way. I often imagine that he is on a business trip and will come back to me soon. I know it sounds foolish, but losing him has left a hole in my heart that nothing else can fill.
One thing I want to share with others is that we should never hate our parents, even if they make mistakes. It can be challenging to forgive them for their faults, but it is crucial to do so. If we hold onto anger, regret, or resentment towards our parents, we risk losing the chance to develop a healthy bond with them. We never know when they might leave us alone in this cruel world, so we should always treat them with kindness, love, and respect. It's crucial to behave well with our parents so that we don't have to live with regret or guilt after they are gone.
