Malcolm started to gain consciousness only to be greeted by none other than his aunt. Aside from that he noticed the white background of the room, hinting out that he was in the hospital
"Ughh..." His head started pounding out of the blue, startling Sofie. "Oh my! Boo, are you okay?" she started caressing him. He could only try to voice out an answer, because he was just too weak
"Im gonna be right back ok? Im gonna tell the nurses" Sofie went speeding out the room and left Malcolm alone. Well at least he has some time to think.
"What the hell was that voice?" he thought. For some reason it feels so warm to him. A kind of home he never had. Though the fear of the unknown still makes the boy anxious of what that voice actually was. But at this point he can't simply let it slide. Considering how weird things have been happening, it only adds to his suspicion.
A few minutes later Sofie and some other people came walking in, they were behind a dude wearing a suit and stethoscope. He's most probably a doctor, seeing how there was a nursing explaining something to him and his aunt
Malcolm couldn't make out what they were saying, but it became clearer as they were walking closer"...Doctor, the records seem unbelievable. He doesn't even have any signs or residing illnesses, moreover--" The doctor interrupted her as soon as he saw that the patient was conscious. "Just hand me the report once we're done here" the doctor sternly instructed while giving full attention on the boy situated in front of him.
The doctor slowly sat on a chair beside him, with Sofie and the nurse right behind his back. "Hello Malcolm. My name is doctor Zeta" He continued to introduce himself to the boy, even though he could only respond by humming or turning his head. "Well y'know kiddo, You're very healthy. Being so, it's so strange that you suddenly ended up like this. This may be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle or facing too much stress." Sofie was listening attentively as she could. She was clueless as to why this happened and she needed to know if it could happen again. "With all that said, I will let you rest here for 2 days. If all is well, then you can be discharged as soon as possible" Dr. Zeta stood up so he could exit the room. "O-ok" Malcolm managed to reply to the doctor, but in a shaky voice. He simply smiled back and made his way out of the room, giving the two some time to bond, in a way.
She sat beside Malcolm and started to brush his hair with her hands. "Boo, don't you worry about anything. I'll be here for you every minute of the time." She gently squeezed his hand as a sign of reassurance. Leaving the latter to happily smile at how caring his aunt is.
The next day seemed to have passed too quickly, nurses coming in and out to check his temperature, getting his blood pressure, all kinds of tests being done. Malcolm hasn't even realized that it was already night time. Meaning that in just one more day, he can finally get out. But there's one thing that couldn't get out of his mind.
The voice.
That mysterious voice just keeps dwelling in his mind. Coming back to him whenever he seems to forget about it. To his surprise, the voice never seemed to be any harm, but instead it felt like an invitation. An invitation to a mystery, but the boy doesn't even have any idea what kind of mystery it would be. He just knew it was powerful, it was reaching out to him. Malcolm was urging to find out what it was. That's why he need to get out as soon as possible
Amidst his intensive thinking, he didn't even notice that the nurses in the E.R were already panicking as rescue units were bringing in patients from ambulance. There was so much pressure at the time. Everyone was moving, making sure that whoever would be brought in would get treated. Until Malcolm saw nurses guiding a bed that had a patient from the ambulance. While another nurse was frantically flipping some sort of checklist of board. "What have we got?" A doctor calmly asked the nurses about the patient. "Female, 16 years old. She's having hypertension, abnormally high fever and unstable breathing. Her family said that she's an athlete and hasn't been admitted in the hospital since she was 5...." the nurse went on explaining to the doctor while machines were set up for the girl to recover.
This was all too much for Malcolm. he was just listening to everything since the nurse was in a state of panic, she probably couldn't help but raise her voice. But isn't what concerns him. He realized that this 'girl' was having similar symptoms as him, what's more is that she was just the same age as him, 16.
Normally anyone would have just concluded this as a 'Coincidence'. But not Malcolm, strange things have been happening recently. For something so similar to happen, he can't just ignore it. Maybe it could lead him closer to the truth of these strange events.
Luckily for Malcolm, Sofie was out for work. Meaning that he has the freedom to do whatever, though only with the best of his abilities, knowing that he was still recovering.
"Where is she?" Malcolm mumbles to himself while he was trying to find a good angle so that he could see the girl, since she was across him. Unfortunately for him, there were curtain blocking his line of vision.
Doors from the back side of the room suddenly opened up. The doctor which Malcolm saw earlier walked in with Dr. Zeta following suit. They went towards the girl when a nurse came by the two doctors to give some kind of a report.
Malcolm was just carefully eyeballing the nurse hoping it would compensate for him not being able to hear them. "What?!" Malcolm was startled by a voice which seem to have been from Dr. Zeta. He cleared his throat to keep his composure. Right after that he was exchanging glances from the nurse to Malcolm. The nurse and the 2nd doctor noticed him, and ended having a fixed gaze on Malcolm as well which ended after a short while.
For a second there Malcolm felt so nervous. Having 3 adults staring him down was so stressful and pressuring. "I wonder why they were staring at me. Maybe I'm not the only one who thinks this could be more than a coincidence." He just settled with talking to himself since no one was there anyway. It was then, the main doors suddenly slid open and Rescue units were coming in with another patient.
Malcolm managed to get a glimpse of what the patient looked like, since he was doing a private investigation of mysterious events.
His heart dropped as he saw a teen. Around the same age as him. He looked like he was sleeping. But he was probably closing his eyes in an attempt to cope up with a headache. The nurses were taking him to a vacant bed, which was right next to the girl. But when they were in front of Malcolm, He and the boy made eye contact. Both of their eyes widened as they felt a connection, well at least that's what Malcolm thought. As soon as their gaze to each other broke, the boy started to yell.
"UGH!! WHO ARE YOU?! GET OUT OF MY HEAD! WHAT IS THIS VOICE?!"
Those yells could only mean one thing to Malcolm.
He can hear it too.
