You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as you fell asleep✨🌕☄️ 🌌✨
Eight pm. It was that late as you were laying in bed. A simple 14-year-old girl reading a fanfiction. That's a normal nightly schedule. Who knows when you would fall asleep though. You moved position from being stomach down to stomach up. The fanfiction you were reading was just a simple X Reader and was getting some really cute parts. Smiling, you placed it down on your stomach before looking out of the window next to you. It was August as the sun was almost under the horizon line. School would soon start and you weren't really looking forward to that. A freshman in high school meant fresh meat for bullies. You frowned at the thought and shook it off. No point in having such negative thoughts. You started to close your eyes and drift off to sleep when you heard an older female voice for you yell downstairs. It seemed directed straight to you.
"(Y/N) Are You Ready?!"
Your eyes shot open as you were quick to get out of bed. You failed to get out on two feet and fell to the ground with a thud. Rubbing your head, you look around and wince. That could leave a bruise.
"(Y/N)? Are you alright!?"
The voice came up again. You responded a bit quickly and a soft smile on your face.
"I'm okay! I just fell from the bed! Again."
You could hear a chuckle from downstairs making you smile.
"Just hurry up!"
"Yes ma'am!"
You responded back. You manage to separate yourself from the blanket. You placed the blanket on the bed and grabbed the small backpack from the bottom of the bed and quickly stuffed a pencil, your sketchbook, and an eraser. As you sort of ran out the door and closed it, you went back in to grab a sweater and your phone. You sat on the railing and slide down to land in front of her.
"You summoned me (M/N)."
You gave her a goofy smile as she just shook her head and smiled lovingly before ruffling your hair.
"The best part of you is that your such a child. You know that (Y/N)?"
"Mom stop it. I'm not a kid. Come on. And besides. You and dad made me like this. What else could be the best part about me?"
You whined at first and then stated a fact in your case causing (M/N) to laugh.
"You are right. We did make you like that. But don't change that. Okay?"
She planted a quick kiss on your forehead causing you to fake disgust.
"Eww. That's gross mom. And I guess I'll try"
Both of you chuckled at the childish behavior you were showing before walking out of the house. Walking out you saw (F/N) in the family car. (F/N) took notice of the and honked.
"Let's go girls. We don't have all night. This is a very rare event"
Both you and (M/N) looked at each other before rolling your eyes and entering the car. Both of you quickly put on your seatbelts and once the clicks were heard, (F/N) drove off. You always loved car rides. Your parents said it was one of the only things that could calm you down as a baby. You remembered that as a child you wanted to be a race car driver.
"Tonight will be the best. I can promise you that (Y/N). My parents and grandparents even saw it. They claimed it was the best thing they saw. Even made my grandfather's wish to come true."
"And what was that? What did he wish for?"
You asked causing your parents to chuckle.
"Well other than money, he wished to find his soulmate. He loved to tell us this story. The next day he bumped into our grandmother and the two clicked instantly. He always claimed that it was something about her pizzaz that he always liked and that she never lost it."
"(Y/N) ask what your father's wish was."
"Oh be quiet (M/N). I don't think she needs to know."
"Dad I'm right here. Not to mention I'm 14. I'm not a child."
Both of your parents chuckled and you faked a huff.
"Right. We are sorry."
Your mom said with a smile. You fake rolled your eyes making your parents chuckle. You smiled as well and then looked out the window. You passed by houses that seemed so empty but yet so lively. You rolled down the window and closed your eyes to feel the breeze from the car past by you. The smell of food hit your nose and the noises of family's laughing and music came to your ears.
Tonight was the night of the great meteor shower. Every fifty years a meteor shower happens over town making it a rare sight to see and a special event. The entire town goes to blackout to see this. It was very rare for it to happen in this town. These meteor showers brought good luck and it offered the opportunity for people to make wishes. Most people get to see it once in their lifetime and you thought it was really cool that your father is seeing it for a second time.
A normally long car ride passed by in seconds. At least for you. Because next thing you know, (M/N) is softly shaking you. Rubbing your eyes and stretched a bit, you got out of the car and went back to the trunk to help with the items. It wasn't much. Just some simple blankets, two small speakers, a backpack that is slightly bigger than yours, and a picnic basket with some delicious treats. You made sure to grab your backpack and putting it one before grabbing the blankets. (F/N) took the backpack, while (M/N) took the picnic basket and the speakers. The three of you walked to the park and looked around. You could see lights and hear music. There were so many different aromas in the air. You took a deep breath and smiled. You could hear the conversation your parents had over a spot when you noticed a tree by itself on a hill. Nobody was on it and people weren't to close. The tree itself seems to shine in its own way. It gave you some inspiration.
"Why not there?" you pointed, "It's by itself, not many people are by it and it's really pretty."
Both of your parents look over to where you were talking about. You looked at them as they smiled, (F/N) even shook his head before saying,
"I don't see why not. Let's head up."
(F/N) said going up the hill. Both you and (M/N) followed. The walk uphill was a bit hard and you almost fell a few times but you all managed to the top. Looking down from the hill gave the three of you a gorgeous view of the park. Families were scattered all over the park with small lights. Laughter and music waving through the trees making the park a seen security. You looked out and looked everywhere. Inspiration was hitting you like a firework on the Fourth of July. (F/N) took the blankets from you as you stared in awe, a smiling forming like the crescent Moon. You didn't care about the grass or light before sitting down on your butt and taking off your backpack. You didn't care if you didn't have light and took out the sketchbook. (F/N) noticed and left you a light to draw by. You were quick to sketch this out as small talk was happening between your parents. Placing the pencil into your hair you held the lamp your dad brought to the drawing and looked at it. Everything was good. You can see the music, the people, the laughter but something was off. Something just wasn't there. Huffing, you later down on you back and looked up to the sky, placing the book on your chest and sighing.
"Art Block? You seemed to be doing fine just a few seconds ago."
Your father teased. You huffed and rolled your eyes.
"No. The drawings just missing something. I don't know what though."
Both of your parents chuckled at this.
"Well, your smart girl. You'll figure it out."
You smiled and what your mother said and sighed.
Small bright camping lights lit the area behind you. Sitting up and looking back you were able to see your mother knitting and your father reading. You didn't know if you were going to join them and looked back out in front of you. You were just looking down to see all the family's. To see all the unity made you smile. That's when you decided to look up and lay down. The smile on your face only brightened. The night sky was beautiful and you couldn't believe that something so big could be so beautiful. Some of the stars were blinking and you just shook them off as airplanes. But, more and more so you sat up. Looking around a small bit, you lifted your hands before catching a blinking star. Bringing it closer to your face and opening your hand a small bit, you were able to see what was causing the blinking. It was just a small firefly and to feel it crawl was a bit weird. You let it go free and watched it fly when a light bulb went off. You got up, grabbed your stuff and moved back to your parents where there was more light for you to draw. Sitting down between them, you looked at the drawing and then started to draw.
"So what hit you this time?"
(F/N) asks, trying to look at the drawing. Noticing, you stuck your tongue out at him and turned it so he couldn't see. You then started to draw again before telling him.
"Fireflies."
"Glowbutts," he said with a smile and before going back to his book, "Nice."
"Oh shut it (F/N). You should be more mature than that."
(M/N) slightly scolded and playfully glared at him and the childish antics your father was giving.
"Your right. But you still love me."
"And I wouldn't be the way I would be mom."
Your father smirked and you looked at your mother. She smiled and shook her head.
"To fall in love with a fool like you. I guess (Y/N) makes the experiences worth it."
You looked at your father with a bit of a smug face. He looked and chuckled.
"Yes. And you had me trapped in your beauty and intelligence. (Y/N) did you know your mom graduated top of her class?"
Before you could even say something, (M/N) scoffed.
"Don't take the attention away from (Y/N). Besides, won't the fireworks start?"
Both you and (Y/N) smiled. You were putting your drawing away as (F/N) put away his book and (M/N) put away her knitting kit. Turning off the lanterns and sitting on the blanket, you look at the sky. A bright and wide smile was on your face, waiting to see it start.
"(Y/N) come lay down. It's better to see it this way."
You looked over to see your parents on the blanket, laying down and looking at you with a softer version of the smile on your face. You quickly moved to be in between the both of them. Making yourself comfortable and then looked up. You waited to see them. White streaks in the sky to show the beginning of this meteor shower. That's when white streaks started to appear and move across the sky. You sat up and watched them move across the sky. Eyes full of wonder and your mouth agape in awe. (F/N) smiled at it while your mother watched the sky with wonder.
"Make a wish, (Y/N)," (F/N) started. "Chances like this are rare."
Making contact with one you quietly whispered out the one wish you came prepared with."I wish the quest characters where real."
