After explaining my current iniquity to the group of scrutinising adults, I finally noticed the time - it was ten to one! That whore! Ugh!

“Jade,” I said as everyone started filtering out of the room. “Thank you... for everything,” I smiled at her smile. “Robert, you’re the best uncle ever!” I laughed at his bewilderment, “and Jamie, you’re going to make a great King and you’re the best little bro anyone could wish for,” I finished as I pulled them into a massive group hug. “I love you all and I have no idea what I’d do without you,” it may have been one of the most clichéd phrases in the English language but it was true! They were the glue that kept my life intact.

“I love you too Kira,” echoed through the room from three separate mouth pieces.

“You better do!” I joked, and saw Jade smile at my progress from half an hour a go. I was starting to pick up the pieces and become the happy me again.

“I don’t think the world could stop us from loving you,” Jamie laughed.

“And I don’t think anything could stop me from loving you lot,” Jade looked like she was going to say something, but was cut off by one of the guys who’d escorted Lateisha out of my house ambling through the door.

“She’s gone,” he stated simply, but then, seeing our expressions, apologised. “Sorry, I just thought you’d like to know.”

“It’s fine, I’d just forgotten about that,” I told him and he visibly relaxed. “You may leave now,” I told him and he looked grateful to leave – yeah I was that socially awkward that I infected others with it!

Once he’d left, I realised how much my earlier break down had cost me – despite my massive, epic brunch, I was ravished.

I made my way towards the kitchen, with the three most amazing people in the world trailing silently behind.

I didn’t know what I wanted to eat, but I knew I wanted to make it – I needed to do something to keep my mind occupied on unimportant things. I started leafing through one of our ancient decrepit recipe books until I found something I wanted to make – a chocolate hedgehog cake. The recipe seemed pretty straightforward too:

Ingredients:

·         2 tbsp cocoa powder

·         175g/6oz butter, softened

·         175g/6oz caster sugar

·         3 medium eggs

·         175g/6oz self raising flour
