I normally never slept at school and typically bared my sleepiness through the school day, but today it seems that my body had other thoughts. I was foolishly lured into a slumber by the blurring background noises, a didactic and rather boring math class, and my straining eyes.
But my dream was something else that I could've never imagined. A bright light surrounded me as I sat up. I was still in my simple grey school uniform, sitting in a desk all alone. I cracked my back as I stood up and stepped onto the glowing ground. I glanced around, seeing no barriers or walls to the place I was at.
"Calum," I voice called from behind me. I turned to see an animal that had the body of a cat with a face and wings of an owl. My mouth snapped into an "O" as it strutted towards me.
"What are you?" I asked, awe-stricken. I slowly crept towards it, precarious of what it could do. Its figure moved gracefully, full of ethereal balance and ease.
"A better question would be: who am I?" The creature spoke, settling itself on the desk that I previously sat at.
"But, Calum, I have not invited you into this vision to tell you that. I'm here to tell you that everything will be different when you awake. You will find that something big—something important has awoken inside of you. When you stir in your world of reality, you'll find that your body will feel heavy and different. This is because you hold more power than you have ever before. While others can't even hold the earth in their palms, you'll be able to balance all of the solar systems at the tips of your fingers. Every step you take will have the ability to take time with it, and the ground will praise you, while the sky and oceans will cherish the other counterparts of the universe."
You three will be unstoppable, but certainly unstable. The sky, ground, and water united will be a dangerous combination, but the world will need it soon enough. And so here is my message: Run for the hills where they can shift at a moments notice and pierce one's heart without touching it, for beauty itself lies beyond them. And don't stop, whatever you do. Do not turn around and don't let the creatures that might chase you get you."
"What?" I sputtered. "What do you mean "creatures"? And how will I know what hills you're talking about?" I demanded, standing on the edge of my toes.
"You'll know because you'll feel it. Your feet will unconsciously guide you there, and I'm positive you'll know when you reach your destination." The animal said before jumping off of the desk and flying up and out of the line of vision.
"Wait!" I yelled as I reached up towards the towering light, desperate to know what he meant, but he had already disappeared. I dropped to my knees as I lowered my hand and pondered over his words.
But it seemed that I had no time to think, for my mind had started to collapse. Sheets of riveting light fell from the skies and collided into each other as I panicked. I stumbled back as something of a fulguration came before me. I scrambled for safety, but even that seemed so impossibly far away, so I settled for running in circles. The sparks didn't burn, but felt warm and inviting. And to my surprise, I was absorbing them. Every hand I would lay on the luminescence went dark and void, and an incredible warmth followed up shortly after, like the heat of being near and a campfire or open oven.
"Calum!" I voice echoed throughout the chamber as it shook violently. I stood as the light quickly engulfed me, declining any room to think.
I opened my eyes to see students quietly packing up their supplies for math class and checking their watches as the teacher blathered on, oblivious to the students' actions. "Calum, thank God you're awake! You were passed out like a rock, I'll tell you that." My friend Jaden told me as his hand continued to shake my shoulder vigorously. He poked me in the cheek as I drowsily looked at him. He smiled his smile with a chipped tooth and whispered, "now come on, you don't want the teacher knowing you were sleeping through his boring class, now do you? Or are you going to confess to your petty crime of sleeping? It would be pretty typical of you to do at." Great now he was more of talking to himself. He tended to ramble and get distracted. "But you ought to get it through your head that Mr Gibson hates you! I mean, just—"
