"Fuck sake, Skye, are you even listening. " My best friend, Drew, glared at me as we walked along the frightfully slippery pathway. We usually opted to park quite away from the school, just incase..

"Nope. " I replied bluntly, popping the 'P'. Drew let out an exasperated sigh.

"Still the same old Skye, I see. "

"If you couldn't see, I'd be worried for you," I chuckled before continuing, " Besides, you've been away for what, 4 weeks of the summer, I've had nobody to be rude to."

"True," he scanned my outfit, " You look cute today."

"Thanks, you don't look to bad yourself. " A smirk slipped onto my face.

"Whats that look for? " He raised and eyebrow, I merely shook my head. He stopped me roughly by the shoulder.

"You're still trying to impress that girl, aren't you?"

"How-"

"I just know Drew," I tapped my temple and carried on walking, passing the school gates infact.

Drew sat across from me in homeroom as we scanned the schedules that Mr cole had laid out carefully before we had arrived.

"Who on earth is JWH?" Drew met my eyes and shot me a confused look as he emphasized the initials that both he and I had on our schedules.

The shrill of the bell sent us on our merry way and I grimaced, Calculus in the morning! What a pleasant.. welcome back.

I shook my head. Senior Skye would take this in her stride. I'm not a kid anymore...

"Earth to Skye. " Drew waved his hands frantically infront of my face. I looked up to find Miss Wright and the rest of our Calc class staring at me impatiently.

"Well, Miss Red?"

"Sorry?"

"What is the answer?" She pointed to the answer on the board and as usual, when it came to maths, I blanked.

"How humiliating. " I had my head in my hands as Drake, Drews younger brother, brought up the calculus incident.

"Well atleast its only Phys ed and English now. " Alice, another girl at the table, pointed out. I nodded in agreement.

"New teacher, though. " Drew interjected. I sighed. What if he didn't like me, just like the other teachers?

Their reason? I used to be a little shit and they still haven't forgotten two years later. I stabbed at my potato salad with my fork, almost viciously.

"My mom can't even cook, " I groaned, regretting the mouthful i took. I swallowed the repugnant 'potato' and set my fork down.

"She is trying, Skye. " Jared shot me a warning look. He was my brother. I watched as he took a forkful of potato salad into his mouth. But the difference was he spat it straight back into the box.

"Nice, Jared. " I screwed my face up, tossing my salad in the bin. I set off to my locker to grab my p.e kit, alone. I shook my head, as if it was going to shake off my migrane.

"Fuck trig," I muttered to myself.

"Miss Red! " Mr Ruess looked to me disapprovingly, but continued. "you heading down the the gym?"

I nodded and fell into step with him.

"Hows the team doing?"

"Great, thanks. The new season is starting with the game this saturday! You should swing by. " I offered and he nodded.
