Jason really understated by their friends being 'slightly' mental.
I honestly think they're aliens.
Including Ames and Jason, their group is basically six people who I swear to God are the funniest yet most insane people I have ever met.
The guys are Aiden, Jason, and Jason's twin, Joseph. Identical twin, to be exact. They both have the leaner build, brown hair and green eyes, and annoying aura surrounding them.
Aiden was the opposite with his hair dyed blue and his quirky personality. He was my favorite out of the group, besides Amy. He was constantly cracking jokes, most of which earned an eye roll from me and laughs from everyone else.
Now the girls include Amy, Alexandra, who goes by Xandra, (calling her Alexandra is basically a death wish) and Bea.
Xandra's probably the weirdest of all, which I associate with the red curls that stop at her shoulders. Her skin is really pale; I swear she's a vampire. Not to mention her really weird comments at the oddest times.
Bea's the only normal one, with her long brown hair and nerd frames, she tends to keep quiet unless we ask her something. Also, she happens to be dating Aiden, which I did not expect, even though she's one year younger.
I guess opposites really do attract.
We weren't the only ones here. It seemed like most of the popular kids were here. The jocks, cheerleaders, etc. were also sitting at one large table, being annoying and bitchy as always.
That Blake guy kept staring at me with that little smirk on his face, like he knew something I didn't. Every time I looked over at him, he looked back at his group and laughed with them, pretending he wasn't stalking me.
After throwing away her sandwich wrapper, Bea sits back down and focuses her blue eyes on me.
"So Scar, where'd you come from?" She asks me while Aiden slings an arm over her shoulder, also giving me his attention.
I felt Amy stiffen beside me. She thought that I'd have another rampage. I don't normally care when people ask me where I'm from. Maria just really got on my nerves.
I shrug and take a sip of my tea. "Since I'm a foster kid, I've lived everywhere. Florida, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico. I've been in nine foster homes, including the one I'm in now."
"Man. What's it like moving around so much?" Joseph asks me.
Jason slaps the back of his head. "Joe! Don't -"
I cut him off with a wave of my hand. "It's cool. I guess it's exciting at first. When I was little, I remember always being so ecstatic about meeting a new family. I guess I thought that everyone wanted to meet me." I laugh lightly.
Amy scowls at me. "Did you make a lot of friends?"
I shake my head. "Not really. I only talked to my foster family. What's the point of getting to know someone when you know you're going to leave anyways?" I shrug, picking at my nails.
"Are you going to be leaving Chicago anytime soon?" Xandra asks me, looking genuinely disappointed.
I give them a small smile. "I was thinking about staying around for a while, even after I turn eighteen." When I'm eighteen, I can decide to leave the foster system and get my own place. I know that you can do the independent living when your sixteen, but things were... different when I was sixteen.
Amy opened her mouth to say something, but was quickly cut off by someone behind us.
"Wow, Scar. I knew you had a back-story, but I didn't think that it could turn off even these weirdos." Maria sneers.
I turn around and see her standing there with her clique, arms crossed and a sour expression on her face.
This can't be good.
I sigh and stand up, crossing my arms over my chest as well. "What do you want, Maria?" I ask in a tired tone.
She gives me a sickly sweet smile. "Well, I wanted to congratulate you on actually making friends. It must be hard, especially after what you went through before you came here." When she sees the confused looks from Ames and everyone, she turns to me with a disappointed look on her face. "Oh, you didn't tell them? I guess I wouldn't tell anyone that I had been in a reformatory sch -"
"I asked you why you came over. Give me a real reason before I lose my patience." I send her my deadliest glare and stand up a bit straighter.
I see her falter a bit before she smirks at me. "Okay, you got me. I came over here to loserville to ask about your necklace. It's really pretty, you know. If you were to lose it, I'm sure it probably wouldn't be returned."
My hand immediately flies to my collarbone, where my necklace usually lays.
It's not there.
"Oh my God." I whisper before turning back to our table and crouch down, looking underneath it for my necklace. It couldn't have gone far; I had it on this morning.
When I realize that it's not there, I stand up and run a hand through my hair. I turn around and face Maria, who was snickering with her clique and sending me amused grins.
"You bitch!" I yell at Maria, advancing on her. Before I could even throw a punch, Joeseph and Jason were holding me back. "If you took it or know anything about who took it and you don't tell me, so God help me I will make sure you can't walk again." I snarl at her, fighting against the twins' arms.
"I would be careful sweetie. We wouldn't want to be sent back to the home for troubled girls, would we?" She loses her cheshire grin and lowers her voice. "I have no idea to where your stupid necklace is. But if you know what's good for you, then you'll lock your door at night." She holds up a photo that was from my suitcase.
It was of me and my last foster family. The photo was taken the day before my supposed birthday, and we had been making a cake which turned out disastrous. There was batter all over the walls and the oven wouldn't stop beating.
The photo brought back memories I tried so hard to keep down. My nostalgia soon turned into blazing fury.
"You dirty whore!" I scream, struggling against the twins' arms holding me back. Why wouldn't they let me teach her not to mess with me? "You have no right to go through my things like you're the fucking queen of everything! You should stick to sleeping around with other girl's boyfriends because I can make your damn perfect life miserable!"
"Excuse me miss, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." The cashier asks me, looking apprehensive.
I shrug the twins off of me. "Gladly." I slam the door behind me.
