Potluck lived along a fairly sizable nomadic tribe, her father was the chiefton... but she would know very little of her family because at the age of 2 her stronghold was attacked by the armed forces of a who came in by ship to remove the outside orc population as they were precieved as a threat. They were pirate mercenaries hired on by a town in which the orc camp was encroaching on.
The region in which they were located was aside the shore of an ocean/sea.
She was found by the a member of the crew who took her in after hard consideration of the possible consequences taking the child aboard. She grew up at sea soon earning her place as the ship's cook, she considered the crew her family and fed them as such. The very man who had found her became a father figure of sorts and trained her to fight. He himself ended up in place of first mate after the last had fallen ill and died. The decision to have what some considered "the enemy" aboard was at first a very controversial decision. He was ridiculed by some for the choice he made and even shunned, as well as Potluck would grow up feeling some of that herself. However she became a functioning member on the ship, and a well fed crew is a happy one.
At 20 years old in the middle of the night a mysterious fire had engulfed the ship while just off shore {insert placeholder name, whatever continent we are on now}. In a frenzy she ran about looking for the man she considered her father, the deck and cabins both ablaze. In the confusion people were bumping into eachother, hacking and coughing, pushing eachother out of the way. The ship began to collapse, wood and debris falling into the sea. Those who were still alive swam to shore and amongst those none of them were her father. A search began for the captin who eventually washed up dead on shore, a funeral was held and it was mutually decided the group disband.
Potluck waited several days on the beach, waiting for any sign of her father, long after the rest of the crew had left. Dead or alive he was never found. And from there she became a wanderer, bringing her to the town of Evenwood.
