Willow
"Ugh!"
I groaned dragging the heavy, dusty box down the stairs. The steps seem to groan as I heaved the weighty box down. My adopted 9 year old sister Pandora, gasped as she lugged her box.
Sometimes, I wished I was the younger one, well just because, but I wasn't, I was 13.
What a typical day, carrying all of Gran's old stuff to the basement.
"Why did Gran had to be a antique collector, it's stupid,"
She muttered, pushing a lock of red hair behind her elfish ears.
"Also,"
She added, sighing.
"I wish Mom was home more."
"You know she can't, she has to support the family."
I replied.
"I wish Dad was still here, Willow."
Pandora mumbled
"Everything would be easy and we won't be doing so much work..."
A lump caught in my throat, Dad could never, ever come back. He died in a horrific car crash. Mom worked hard to keep the house, she never wanted to sell it. It's a memory of Dad, she had said many times.
"Yaaaa ahhhhhhhh!"
I jumped nearly dropping my box.
Pandora screamed as she tumbled down the steps. The box fell after her.
"Eshhhhhhh, dumb heavy boxxxxx!"
She seethed.
"God, you okay?"
I called down.
"Yep."
She moaned. All the contents of the box laid around her
I carefully carried my box down and started to help Pandora clean the spilled contents.
"Wow!"
She exclaimed.
"Whats wow? Panda?"
I questioned. (Panda was Pandora' s nickname.)
Pandora wasn't answering. She was gaping at a beautifully carved wooden box. Intricate carvings covered the sides. Three black hearts were embossed on the top of the box.
"This. Is. Cool."
She said slowly. I stared at it, it was mesmerizing to look at.
"Omigosh,"
Pandora squeaked. Well, apparently, antique collecting wasn't stupid.
I glanced at Pandora' s face. She looked weird, like she was in a trance. And she was deathly pale, I could barely see her adorable freckles.
"Uh, Panda....?"
I said nervously. Her eyes were blank as she gazed at it.
Suddenly she ripped the top of the box off.
There was a snapping sound, I gasped.
KRACKKKKKKKKK!!!
"What the-!"
I shrieked. Pandora was trembling as she clutched the box.
Thick smoke spewed out of the box. Even though, the smoke was as dark as night, it was blinding. I scrunched up my eyes and covered them. They burned. My heart pulsed through me.
Peculiar sounds were in the air. I heard screams. FREAKY. WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING!
And suddenly, it was eerily silent, like the world stopped....
