Next classtime, Frisk arrived early and explained her absences to Undyne and Papyrus. It wasn't easy, but Frisk felt better when she finished talking.

"I'M GLAD YOU TOLD US, HUMAN!"

Sans pretended to act surprised at the news. For whatever reason, he didn't feel like telling anyone about the cave incident. Frisk wondered if maybe he wanted it to remain between them. That was what she wanted anyways.

The conversation eventually shifted to how everyone spent their weekend.

"I DID NOTHING BUT SOLVE PUZZLES," said Papyrus with pride.

The fish woman rested her hands behind her head. "I helped Alphys rearrange her furniture. Last week it was her lab machinary. Then it was the kitchen. And this weekend it was the TV room." Undyne frowned. "She's been needing me to move furniture a lot lately."

"Oh," said Frisk, remembering something. "How's the tree climbing class going?"

Undyne grinned. "Alphys is taking huge strides. That nerd can already climb most pine trees."

Frisk smiled. She still couldn't believe that was real class.

The next day, Toriel invited everyone over to cook dinner. It was uncertain how long Undyne would be able to stay in town, due to unrest along the border, so no one wanted to miss this dinner. The friends arrived in the early evening so they could divide up the work.

Undyne and Frisk were in charge of supper while Toriel was in charge of desert. Alphys and Papyrus went out to buy fruit for the salad. Sans disappeared the instant Toriel said the word 'work'.

Frisk sat on a stool by the stove and stirred a pot of broth.

"Hey, hand me that mini spear," said Undyne.

"You mean the knife?"

"Same thing."

Undyne slashed vegetables mercilessly. Cucumber guts flew. She lined celery stalks up on the counter and whacked them to pieces. "Is the water boiling? The carrots are ready!"

"Yep, it's boiling. Go ahead and put them in."

The monster hurled handfulls of produce into the pot.

Frisk gently stirred the soup.

Sans came in the front door, wearing headphones. He plopped down on the couch, listening to Napstablook's latest mix. Within moments, he was zoned out. Since the couch was turned away from the kitchen, Undyne and Frisk hardly noticed him.

The two chefs flew around the kitchen, seasoning dishes and pounding bread dough.

"Where does your mom keep the sea tea?"

Frisk frowned and her gaze dropped. "Um, do we have to drink that tonight? MK and I used to brew sea tea. It was kind of our thing."

"Oh," said Undyne. She placed her tray of dough into the blazeing oven. "When you got last week's letter and went into lockdown, you at least told someone the secret, right?"

"Yeah, I confessed to Sans."

"Fuhuhu! Finally! I was wondering when you two were gonna get together."

"What? No!" Frisk felt herself go red. "Not that kind of confession!"

Undyne laughed harder.

Frisk stirred the pot. "Let's just focus on making dinner without burning down the house."
