The Drill

"What did you eat last night?" the make-up artist asks Dahyun while applying her foundation, Dahyun stared at her reflection in the mirror. "We ate outside for a change, this new seafood place in Gangnam." the makeup artist stared at her while trying to blend some make-up on the back of his hand to try and get Dahyun's shade. "You guys should eat less, you're face is bloated, a waste of more make-up." Dahyun just stared at the vanity mirror. 

"I'll discuss it with them later." Dahyun closed her eyes, trying to sleep when she heard Sana and Jeongyeon quarreling at the back. 

"Yah, Sana-yah I told you not to take my phone when I'm getting prepared." Jeongyeon looks pissed but in a funny way. "I'm not gonna do anything, I already told you I'm just gonna take a selca...and see your text messages from him. HAHAHAHAH." Sana and Jeongyeon ran in circles around the dining table of the waiting room. 

"Sana-yah, it's your turn for TwiceTV interview." Momo came back from her screentime. Sana put Jeongyeon's phone down on the table and left for the backstage. Chaeyoung decided to open a conversation with the group "Ohhh Jeongyeon unnie, you're still dating that rookie actor? How did you even know him?" Nayeon smirked after hearing Chae's question. 

"I hit them up together, she should be thankful I set her up with such a gentleman, what an ungrateful brat." Jeongyeon looked at Nayeon while holding her phone. "He liked me, not you. You just gave him an album and act like cupid! All our numbers were there but he chose me." Jihyo chuckled "Stop it Jeong, we know that he picked you only because most of us were taken." And then they all laughed, even Mina who just woke up from her sleep. 

Dahyun looked at Jihyo, "Unnie who's up for first today?" Jihyo got up from her chair and looked at everyone, "Oh RM's group, Bangtan aaand Velvet." Dahyun stared at Jihyo still "Songs?" Jihyo was thinking when suddenly Tzuyu answered "Bangtan is having this unique concept with spring and Velvet unnies' song is rookie rookie." Dahyun estimated the points in her head and thought that maybe they'll get nominated for number 1 next week. 

"GIRLS! YOU NEED TO BE IN THE HALLWAY IN 10, CAMERAS WILL NOT BE FILMING YOU, STILL, DON'T SAY ANYTHING UNNECESSARY. NO MICS, NO CELLPHONES, NO CEREALS (cellphone number exchange), We will be meeting only 5 groups I've already arranged that you need to go early because you have to be in the white room with Si Hyuk's team." Simultaneously everyone gets up from their chairs and started putting on their boots, the stylists keep chasing them for minor touches and fixing their bangs from time to time. 

Chae whined while putting on her boots. "Do we really have to do this? This is so old school though." Tzuyu silently agreed to her. "I don't know about you, but I want to meet new idols, and I really wanna get close to BTS, have you heard the laughs from their dressing room? They sound so fun!" Nayeon said while smiling, clearly overjoyed. Mina broke her silence by saying: "I really want to be close with the velvet unnies but I'm shy, I wanna be friends with Joy." 

"We do this to create bonds with other groups so that it won't create rifts and show the fans that we're friends," Dahyun stated nonchalantly. Nayeon just looked at Dahyun and then said: "Okay, if that's what you say I'm gonna wait for you guys outside." Everyone stared at Dahyun, and then back to tying their boots, awkwardness surfaced the room, and good thing 10 minutes was not a long time. They waited in line with Jihyo at the very beginning so did 10 or more other idols' groups outside their dressing room just lining up. 

It was just a series of greetings and introductions with the members of the group and the exchanging of autographed albums. Their first group was Block B, Tzuyu was handing out the album yet she dropped the first album so she had to give the second one although it was not damaged. "Hey, it's fine." Dahyun looked at Tzuyu and offered her hand palms face up, indicating that she would give the albums instead because their youngest is clearly very nervous around seniors. 

Dahyun double-checked to see if the album was damaged and thank God it was not. Block B bid them goodbye and then they walked to the next group's waiting room, it was BTS. 

"One in a Million! Annyeonghaseyo Twice-imnida." They bowed 90 degrees to their seniors. "Dul Set BANG! TAN! Annyeonghaseyo bangtanseonyeondan." After the introductions, the managers introduced the members one by one and have a small talk after that while the 2 groups stay silent. It's awkward to stare at them so usually, we just look up or down. "Dahyun-ssi, give the autographed album already we will be going to another group's waiting room." Dahyun held out the album that fell a while ago and while still looking down saw a pair of pale hands giving her an album. 

"You know we don't bite, right?" She looked at him and smiled then nodded. Dahyun stared at the album on her hand 'ahhh finally my friend really wanted this and now I even got it autographed' Then she noticed something. She looked at the back and at the front and inside the album but there was NO AUTOGRAPH, Dahyun slightly panicked because her group was already leaving for the next introduction, in the end, she politely followed them. 

They were going back to there room after all the introductions have finished, they have to get ready because they still need to go to the white room for music bank and check all the in-ears and all. It was really a bummer that it had no autograph but she really wanted to have it. While preparing Dahyun put the autograph near her table. "Can I keep this BTS album, my friend really wants one." Chaeyoung chuckled, "Unnie really likes free stuff, it's not like we don't earn you know." Dahyun just smiled at Chaeng, her best friend. 

While they were doing their make-up someone initiated a conversation about the upcoming JYP party for April, the 20th founding anniversary of JYP. "Jihyo-yah, did we already buy the gifts for the higher-ups? Don't you think we need to buy them gifts?" Nayeon asked, Jihyo was thinking for a while before she answered. "I don't think personal gifts are necessary, but perhaps you know, wine? Something that we could all enjoy?" Nayeon nodded her head and continued "But Tzuyu and Chaeyoung couldn't drink." Everyone stopped because Dahyun also couldn't drink just yet but she didn't include her, it was petty, everyone knew that Dahyun was fine but it's almost been 2 years since SIXTEEN happened and their relationship is only getting worse. 

Dahyun was still staring at the album. "OKAY GIRLS! WRAP UP WRAP UP, MEMORIZE YOUR LINES BEFORE GOING TO THE WHITE ROOM, WE WILL BE WITH A BOYBAND SO IT'S BETTER TO MINIMIZE EYE-CONTACT AND JUST DO YOUR JOB! SEE YOU IN 5." Again, like robots, they jumped from their seats while their stylists chased them to get the girls' hair and make-up perfected by the time they arrive in the white room. 

Dahyun thought to herself for a while and immediately grabbed the album and her purse to get an easy-dry marker. They all went to the white room and greeted BTS again before entering the white room, Dahyun left the album outside on his chair. It was really awkward for them, they look very comfortable in front of the camera but it's very difficult to keep your neck straight and not look at the side when they're speaking. After the white room was finished someone in BTS said "thank God that was fast." Nayeon looks very excited to be with BTS in the same room, I could say the same for Jeongyeon unnie, she was already friends with RM since they once attended the same high school. 

Once they left the room, Dahyun hurriedly grabbed the album, but BTS was already heading to their waiting room so she walked up to the one member lagging behind because of his slow pace and short feet. "Uhm excuse me sunbae-nim." Yoongi turned and looked at Dahyun 'wow she's glowing' was the first thing Yoongi thought about her. "Yes, how can I be of help to you?" Dahyun was very shy and timid that she didn't even bother to answer she just handed him the album. "Sorry for the interruption, but something is missing here sunbae-nim." 

Yoongi took the album then assessed it and said "Aahh but we don't put our numbers on albums anymore, you could just get our number from Jeongyeon you know? And besides, you're too young for me." Dahyun thought 'the audacity of this little mudfish' her face was as respectfully facepalm as it could be. "Uhmm, I don't want your number sunbae-nim, I just want an autograph. Can you return it to me later with all the autographs, please, I will be in debt to you." Yoongi was flustered, he just accused someone of hitting on him, when she just wanted an autograph, so he immediately turned his back on Dahyun "Uhh o-okay I'll send a stylist there later to give it back." Dahyun smiled and expressed her gratitude. Now she only has to wait for him to return the album, and that would be their last interaction, or so she hoped.
