sojung and yewon pulled up to eunbi's house, the neighborhood was all too familiar to them. the suburban houses with the glass chandeliers, the white picket fences, and of course, the big suvs parked in the driveways.
yewon could never get used to it however, she was so comfortable with her lifestyle of her small apartment that her mother owned. she did envy her best friend, but she would never give up living with her two younger brothers and mother.
"let's give this brat her dessert before i eat it myself." sojung unbuckles her seatbelt with yewon shortly following behind. they walk up to the front door and ring the bell.
"yay!" the duo was now faced with the now eager eunbi who immediately grabbed the ice cream cone from yewon's hand. "thanks, now hurry up and follow me." eunbi quickly turns on her heel and starts to her room.
the two girls stepped into the house, not forgetting to take their shoes up before stepping into the living room. they follow their friend's room which was decorated with many trophies and certificates. sojung would tease eunbi, calling her a poster child.
"okay, what are you so excited about?" yewon chuckles at her close friend as she takes a seat on her bed.
"you have to guess." eunbi replied.
"girl, we did not come here to play a guessing game." sojung rolls her eyes as she lays back onto the bed, slowly falling into a nap.
"hurry up, eun!"
"okay chill please," eunbi exclaims as she eats the last bits of her cone. "i got yerin's number today!"
sojung sits up in a instant and yewon's face goes frozen.
what are the odds? they said.
"oh, im so happy for you!" yewon tries her best to smile big as sojung could only look at her with sympathy.
"i know, i think today's my luckiest day," yewon nods slowly at her words. "she's even asked to hang tomorrow."
yewon heart sank at the words coming out of eunbi's mouth, she wanted to be happy. she truly did. but the heartstrings tugging on her chest said other wise.
that night they didn't speak much about the topic and continued to talk about school and movies like they usually did. yewon went home quietly with sojung, not forgetting to say goodbye to eunbi.
